VILE CYNIC SPEAKS and we are not friends lol

1.Tell us in a few words why you think people should listen to you over the thousands of bands out there?

I feel like we bring some energy, and some interesting parts to our music and parts that maybe most people/musicians would have went a different route with.

2. Name 3 bands you think your music is comparable to.

Oh this is a tough one because our influences are absolutely all over the place.  We try to keep a fresh mix of styles of metal in our songs so it’s a little less predictable.  Not all songs but most.  We like to utilize some guitar harmonies like some classic and current metal bands like Maiden and Exmortus, the speed of some thrash bands  like Slayer and Testament, and some riffs we try to keep heavy and than melodic like some At the Gates songs.  We just play and write whatever we’re feeling at the time without sticking to one typical formula.

3.Tell us about your latest release, how do you describe it and where can we purchase it?

Sovereigns of Death is our first EP that was released a few months back.  It’s 4 songs of a good mix of metal in it.  We have thrash, melodic metal, a little black metal on it so it’s fairly well rounded musically. To purchase it is available on apple music, bandcamp or you can message the band facebook of myself personally (Jake Meditz) to get a physical copy!  Our webstore is currently being worked on and updated and will be launched shortly.

4.Do you have any video’s and where can we see them? Do you think video’s are important any longer?

We have some videos available on our facebook page as well as our website www.vilecynic.com that has links to all of our available content.

5. As a PR agent I am going to tell you forthright, It is expensive to make it in the music industry and it is unfair because a lot of great talent gets left behind. How far are you willing to go?

How much are you willing to lose to climb this mountain?  I’m willing to go as far as it takes to achieve mine and our goals.

SO?....... Shall I arrange a meeting?

6.At one time you could believe that your music was enough , Your live show was enough. Now that you know the reality of the music business what would YOU change to make it more fair to the artist?

I would say with the decline of the record labels as a whole, a bigger chunk of change from streaming and sales needs to go back to the artist. Without the artist you wouldn’t have a platform to be making millions off of.  I believe that would give the artists more opportunity to hit the road, more money to get into the studio to release more music faster and more money to create content for all the fans and followers.

7.Youve spent tons of money on gear , spent thousands of hours rehearsing and putting everything into your dream. What level of success will you consider “ making it”?

Releasing some successful EP’s, getting out on the road and seeing people getting into our music and headbanging along with us and knowing the words to some of our music.

8. Have you been on the road? Would you like to tour? And with who?

Not yet but we’re are currently working on changing that! Yes we’d definitely like to tour.  Hard to say who we’d all like to tour with.  I would just say like minded metal bands that want to put on a good show and have a great time.

9.You get 5 members build your dream band and go.  Chuck Schuldiner, Jason Becker, Gene Hoglan, Rex Brown, Bruce Dickinson

10.Who would you not throw under the bus for fame?

I wouldn’t throw anyone under the bus for fame.

Ah cmon nobody????

11.Do you know about the business side of music? Do you think the business side or the entertainment side is more important?

I don’t know a whole lot of the business side just a little bit.  But I believe they go hand in hand.

12.What is it about your live show that will make a person remember you?

We enjoy interacting with everyone on stage and off stage.  There’s no better feeling than that.

13.Your girlfriend , Your family , Your friends are all going to lie to you and tell you that you are awesome, its just how the game works.

So who do you trust to tell you the truth?  Wives/girlfriends for sure.

14.What constitutes kicking a member out of a band? Ego, excessive drug use, lack of dedication.

15.How do you feel about political beliefs inside the band?

What if one of your members wanted to wear a pro trump shirt live?  Everyone has their own set of beliefs politically in our band.  It’s not a huge subject that we bring up a whole lot or that we ever get into arguments about.  It’s basically a non issue with us.   We’re not really ones to control what each other wear at shows, although we try to keep it more on the musical side shirt wise as in wearing our friends bands shirts to show support etc.

16. There are a number of bands and artist out there who are gay or lgbt,

Would you support one of your members changing gender? Absolutely.  Band members are family and we take care of each other as such.

17.Many people consider metal music and metal fans to be racist
Share your opinions, including would you allow racism in your band if the member was talented enough?

Absolutely not.  We wouldn’t allow anyone with those beliefs to be in our band.  Doesn’t matter how great they are, there’s no room for that shit in our band or our lives.

18.I am pushing boundres for a reason, rock n roll is rebellion sex and drugs but things have changed will you stay true to yourself even if it means leaving the band and giving up your dreams?

Yes, you have to stick to your guns and beliefs no matter how hard the decision may be.

19.Lets lighten up, If you could get on stage with any band who would it be?

Even though we don’t play anything even remotely similar I would say Killitorous.  They absolutely shred and would be amazing to watch.  Aaron Homma and Nick Miller are some of the top shredders putting out some killer music right now with their bands Killitorous and First Fragment.

20.I want you to say something you know will be controversial that you are willing to stand up for.

Haha this is tough as i’m not really a controversial person.  I guess I would say In and Out burger is overrated, and Iron Maiden is better than Priest. Probably not what you were looking for but it’s what I got.
