Wailing from the Lafayette, Louisiana area, YAKk writes Sci-Fi influenced Prog-Rock based on the stories that they write themselves! With influences all over the spectrum of music, pushing the boundaries of prog rock by adding elements of Soul, Jazz, Funk and even Hip hop sometimes! These heavy hitters mean buisness as they light up the stage with perfromances that leaves you craving more!
They’re lattest release “An Appetite for Flesh” is a dark, yet bouncy track that pays homage to the festivites during this time of year! Even guitarist, Joshua Key of Psychostick, claims that they have “Memorable songwriting,(and) facemelting guitar solo-age!"
The sysnopsis of their story reads: There's a dark force lurking on planet Grovelpot. Hams obsessively seeks satisfaction in slicing his own brethren, only to cook them up and serve them right back to his fellow pigs. Due to the sudden decline in population, GPPD sends out Top Graduate and Rookie, Wally Gillards, to investigate what may end up as a "Dead End" for our hero.
Originally formed in 2011 as a four-piece, YAKk jammed hard to pump out 7 original tracks. A year later, they were ready to play shows. Over the years the band has gone through a couple of member changes and decided to take a break. To date, YAKk is going through almost a complete reboot and is looking to release brand spanking new material really soon!
