LIFE OF SCARS SIGN WITH METAL COFFEE PR

Fate will always have its way and when it comes to this power trio you will have no doubt that the path has already been chosen, signed in blood and etched in stone. Straight up in your face reality from the street level to the darkest corners of your soul. “Life Of Scars” lays out relentless riff after riff, beat after thunderous beat, combined with unapologetic lyrics that navigate the listener on a journey through the unfortunate fundamentals of life.
Wayne Abney, Michael Huebner and Anthony Walker have been on the local Dallas Fort Worth, (DFW), and World Wide scene from the beginning of the thrash days of the 90’s to the present. Each have multiple recordings and world released albums under their belts. (Hammer Witch, Demonseed, Hell Goat,).

All have countless live performances ranging from opening for major acts, supporting tours to playing small clubs. Each member has an enormous amount of studio experience including engineering, producing and recording.
With their debut release entitled “When The Devil Walks In” Life Of Scars opens your eyes and ears to the world as they know and live it. Without fear they embrace their individuality which forms a total unique sound in a world of clones. From the first song you will realize this band is different and sound different from anything you have recently heard. After the next few tracks you will soon realize that their story is your story and their words are your words and that their band is your band.

CODE NOIR INTERVIEW

1. Thanks for your time. Tell us about your band and what you do for your band.

Cheers! Right now Code Noir are just me (Michael T) on vocals and guitars and Adam Chapman on bass and guitar.

2. When did you decide you wanted to be in a band?

When I first listened to Piece of Mind and Defenders of the Faith back in 1983-1984

3. What is different about being a musician than you imagined?

Probably how difficult it has been to juggle all things Code Noir with all my other day to day obligations.

4. What gear do you use and why?

I love talking about gear! As far as guitars go I dig the PRS sound, and I use Duncan Custom pickups in my main axe. I’m not much of a fan of EMGs, they tend to impose their sound on the guitar. With regard to amps, my setup is as simple as it gets, Marshall DSL100H head into Marshall cab loaded with Vintage 30s speakers and mic’ed. I far prefer mic’ed guitar sounds to direct recorded or modeled.

5. What music do you listen to that would surprise people?

Well, I’m a sucker for a great pop song, haha. So, I like lots of things that aren’t hard or heavy.

6. How do we find your music and merch to buy?

From the Metal Scrap webpage or send us a message on our facebook page.

7. How did you get a record deal? Or do you want a record deal or are you DIY?

We send out our stuff to Metal Scrap Records and they responded and it all worked out!

8. What bands do people compare your music to?
Ramones, if you can imagine such a thing!

9. Are you pro Spotify / streaming services ? Or do you think it hurts sales?

To be honest, not very many people seem to be buying CDs, haha. So streaming services give you a change to be heard, and that’s always a good thing.

10. What’s the ultimate goal for the band?

To be able keep on writing, recording and playing music we love!
11. Will we see you tour?

Right now it isn’t realistic, being just the two of us. Hopefully in the future.
12. Who would you love to tour with?

Anybody who would be into raising a little hell and having a good time!
13. What is your favorite song of yours and why?

Nowhere, cos lyrically and musically it’s got everything I dig in a song. It’s a song I would pay attention to if I heard it somewhere.

14. Why should people take the time to listen to your band over the thousands of other bands?

Well, that’s the thing isn’t it… there are so many bands and music around today that it’s difficult to stand out. Let me put in this way: every note and every word on Burn Card came from the heart.

15. What are your favorite music websites labels podcast etc?

Blabbermouth, haha!
16. Is imagery important to you? Do you judge albums by the cover?

Not in the least.
17. If you could choose a cover song your band mates would hate what would it be?

The Black Eyed Peas – I Gotta Feeling

18. Is the record or live show more important?

Both!

19. Name 3 people dead or alive you would want to play your music for.

I’d want to play different songs to different people. Under the August Sun to my Dad. Our cover of Sanctuary to Steve Harris. And for reasons I can’t fully express I’d want to play Nowhere to Axl Rose, haha!

20. Lemmy Ozzy Dio and Rob Halford in a cage match who wins?

Lemmy, the others are too frail.

Aeternus Prophet INTERVIEW

1.Thanks for your time. Tell us about your band and what you do for your band.

-Hi, we are band Aeternus Prophet from Ukraine (Kyiv region, fastiv town.) and playing black/death metal since 2010. Nowadays lineup is Abaddon  – vocal, Oberon – guitar, Dessident – drums.
In general, we do a lot of things for ourselves, we are mainly developing and relaxing, we are having fun in Ukraine now. (That is not easy for us to deal with the Ukrainian music industry)

2. When did you decide you wanted to be in a band?

When we studied at universities, we decided to create a group in 2008, but due to all-round problems, we created it only in 2010.

3. What is different about being a musician than you imagined?

Differs in many factors, we thought that being a musician is easy and simple, but in reality expectation and reality are very substantial. At the beginning of the creation of the group is very difficult, but the main thing is to start, to gain momentum, and slowly move towards the goal.
Here all people see only one side of the musician’s life, without facing all sorts of difficulties that the musicians themselves face it.

4. What gear do you use and why?

we all play mostly on rental equipment, but some of us prefer individual aspects:
guitarist - Oberon, uses inexpensive guitars, but he himself modifies all his guitars with bas-relief woodcarving. from guitar amplifiers, he likes the firm orange
the drummer is Dessident, now he doesn’t have his own drum set, he has a set of zildjian cymbals, and he had his own gimbal that he was beaten on tour in Poland
vocalist - Abaddon also does not have his own microphone, he sings on the microphone of the rehearsal base

5. What music do you listen to that would surprise people?

We all listen to mostly different heavy music, and our preferences are rarely similar and do not overlap, for example, guitarist - Oberon listens

Ufomammut, Yuri Gagarin, Zaraza, P.H.O.B.O.S, Nokturnal Mortum, Agathodaimon, Siebenbürgen.
drummer Dessident listens Kreator, Slipknot, Mayhem, Svartidauði, Funeral, Deathspell Omega.
vocalist - Abaddon listens Behemoth, Slipknot, Mushroomhead, Metallica, The Berzerker, Dope, Dirtyprotest.

6. How do we find your music and merch to buy?
We have pages on many online resources:

https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Aeternus_Prophet_Exclusion_of_Non_Dominated_Materi?id=B5cw2fvnhur7v2haxhw3khadhs4

7. How did you get a record deal? Or do you want a record deal or are you DIY?

We published our first full-length album ourselves, with our own strength and capabilities. for the release of the second album we signed a contract with a large Ukrainian label Metal Scrap Records.

8. What bands do people compare your music to?

Sometimes we are compared to Novembers Doom, Rotting Christ, Sceptic Flesh, Belphegor, and Behemoth.

9. Are you pro Spotify / streaming services ? Or do you think it hurts sales?

We do not like the Internet traffic data, they have a negative impact on physical releases, and this brings groups not very positive impact and result.

10. What’s the ultimate goal for the band?

Conquer all :)

11. Will we see you tour?

Well, we will be doing a tour of Poland, the Czech Republic in the spring of 2019. Come can meet. ))

12. Who would you love to tour with?

We certainly would like to go on tour with Mayhem, Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse.

13. What is your favorite song of yours and why?

guitarist - Oberon: I like the song "Za Kosmosom" by Yuri Gagarin, I like the song because of its interesting atmosphere
drummer Dessident : I like the song "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath because it reflects the whole essence of rock - n - roll, and opens the whole essence of live music.
vocalist - Abaddon: I like the song "People=Shit" by Slipknot because I'm a misanthrope and a sociopath

14. Why should people take the time to listen to your band over the thousands of other bands?

Because we create a unique mix of styles, you can listen and also understand what we are talking about. And because our texts motivate people not to sit still, but to fight for themselves, to act, to win. not only let snot because of small problems

15. What are your favorite music websites labels podcast etc?

Nuclear Blast Records

16. Is imagery important to you? Do you judge albums by the cover?

Well, here as well as with books, it is impossible to find out what's inside, behind beautiful covers, you need to open, “see”, listen. But we can definitely say that the cover for the metal groups is still a very important component, it creates its own atmosphere, and complements the musical atmosphere by creating the addition of visual images in the human brain.

17. If you could choose a cover song your band mates would hate what would it be?

We will not do this, we have and so there is a tense atmosphere among themselves.

18. Is the record or live show more important?

Both are very important.

19. Name 3 people dead or alive you would want to play your music for.

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, Dead  from Mayhem, Roger Joseph Zelazny

20. Lemmy Ozzy Dio and Rob Halford in a cage match who wins?

Ozzy Wins! ) Were happy to talk, stay metal!

MIDNIGHT BLUE SIGN WITH PINK PR!

Blue Midnight is a Dream Metal band based out of Los Angeles founded by lead singer and songwriter Justine. Justine has always loved traditional rock music but when she formed Blue Midnight she wanted to create a band that featured both heavy elements and light classical orchestral elements She wanted to combine the two sounds in a new way that was fresh different and emotional. She describes Blue Midnight’s style as Dream Metal because the music includes heavy distorted guitar, intense bass, and hard-hitting drums while also featuring the contrasting sounds of light, ethereal and operatic vocals with a dramatic string section. The band seeks to transport its live audience to a dream-like state of mind as fans enjoy this unique blend of sound.

The band members include Justine (vocals/keyboard), Todd McCool (guitar), Mike Hill (bass), Matt Hornbeck (lead guitar), Edgar Sandoval (violin), and David Allen (drums).

THE KING!!!

On January 25th, King Diamond will release a new DVD/Blu-ray, Songs For The Dead Live, via Metal Blade Records.

There is only one King Diamond, and for more than thirty years the great Dane has been dropping classic albums and putting on shows fans remember for the rest of their lives. Perhaps the only downside to having such a formidable catalogue is that there are just too many great songs to fit into a single set. However, you would be hard-pressed to find a fan who wouldn't want to hear 1987's seminal Abigail in its entirety, and Songs For The Dead Live captures this, twice, and in very different locales. Boasting eighteen songs per set, each of the two shows - Belgium's Graspop Metal Meeting in June 2016 and Philadelphia's Fillmore in November 2015 - feature a brace of classic King Diamond and Mercyful Fate tracks including "Welcome Home," "Halloween," and "Eye Of The Witch" before launching into Abigail. The performances of the all-star lineup of musicians, comprising of guitarists Andy LaRocque and Mike Wead, bassist Pontus Egberg and drummer Matt Thompson, are absolutely ferocious, hammering home every single moment.

For a preview of Songs For The Dead Live, a video for "Sleepless Nights (Live at The Fillmore)" can be viewed at: http://metalblade.com/kingdiamond/ - where you can also pre-order the release in the following formats:
--2DVD/CD 6-Panel Digipak
--Blu-ray (includes audio digital download of Philadelphia Show)
--special edition box set with 5 discs (2DVD, 2CD, 1 Blu-ray) plus poster, flier, laminate, setlist, ticket, sticker, and guitar pick (limited to 3000 copies)
--opaque blue with white splatter vinyl (US retail exclusive - limited to 600 copies)
--opaque red with black splatter vinyl (US webstore exclusive - limited to 200 copies)
--opaque white with black splatter vinyl (US webstore exclusive - limited to 200 copies)
--180g black vinyl (EU exclusive)
--transparent amber marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 700 copies)
--clear ghost white vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 500 copies)
--orange-brown/black marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 300 copies)
--black/purple melt vinyl (Nuclear Blast exclusive - limited to 200 copies)
--orange/red marbled vinyl (Napalm exclusive - limited to 300 copies)
--clear lavender marbled vinyl (EMP exclusive - limited to 200 copies)
--clear ash grey marbled vinyl (Bengan exclusive - limited to 200 copies)
--pink blue marbled vinyl (Ebay exclusive - limited to 200 copies)

Captured on film by director Denise Korycki for Wild Wind Studios, she worked closely with King on every aspect of filming, and throughout the viewer finds themselves front and center as the shows unfold. This includes some inventive camera placement, such as riding in on the back of the wheelchair as it is wheeled out to "Out From The Asylum" at the start of the show, or looking up from the coffin at the commencement of Abigail opener "Funeral", which adds an extra dimension to proceedings. Naturally, the theatricality that has become synonymous with King Diamond is there in full force, making for an even more immersive experience. The gothic stage set and the participation of actors playing out certain scenes tying into the songs definitely increases the drama and the sense of complete disconnect from the trappings of reality, ensuring that the shows remain riveting from start to finish.

While the setlists are virtually identical, the drastic difference in the two venues make for distinctly different atmospheres. The sweeping, epic scale of Graspop and the virtual sea of baying metalheads makes for a particularly thrilling spectacle, King holding them all in the palm of his hand. The Fillmore show is immediately more intimate, and rather than a mixed bag of metal lovers drunk on a weekend of the heavy stuff, the audience is comprised entirely of the King Diamond devout, screaming back every word, their love for their hero bleeding from every frame. Songs For The Dead Live gives those who missed out on seeing these shows in the flesh a chance to vividly experience them, offering so much deeper an experience than your run of the mill live DVD.

DESDEMONIA • Melodic Death Thrash Metal • New Music Video

Not afraid of fear
Take old school Death Metal, add a healthy dose of Groove, a pinch of Thrash and round it up with a lot of melody … and you’ll get the powerful MELODIC DEATH THRASH METAL essence of DESDEMONIA.

On November, 16th 2018 the band released their new Music Video for the title track of the current album "Anguish".

Music Video for the title song of 2018's album 'Anguish'

DESDEMONIA explains the thematic background:
"As you can probably tell by the title ‚Anguish‘, the song deals with fears that everyone of us has. We all have to deal with our inner demons, our deepest fears and negative thoughts on a regular basis, even if you’re a positive thinking person. They emerge from the deepest, darkest inner-self and can be abstract and mysterious. Angst is palpable and related to real-life situations, like survival in a fast-changing world, where known structures are quickly disappearing. Fears can also result from death. Even though it's omnipresent in all media these days, people have unlearned how to deal with it in a reasonable way. We fear the lack of life that it induces more than death itself. Moreover, the lyrics were written during a pretty short period of time, during which we had a lot to deal with … that also had a great impact on the theme of the whole album."

DESDEMONIA • 2018
LINE-UP:
Tom Dosser (vocals, bass)
Marc Dosser (guitars, vocals)
David Wagner (guitars)
Tom Michels (drums)
After years of efforts and experiences, DESDEMONIA's fourth longplayer "Anguish" have been released in March 2018 via Mighty Music.

On "Anguish", the quartet yet again combine catchiness with raw, vicious riffage and grim weighty vocals, while more quiet and melodic moments give their music the right dynamics. The aggressive and gloomy atmosphere is being underlined by lyrics that explore the fears and dark thoughts of the human mind. This contemporary issue being universal, all four band members shared their thoughts and contributed to the lyrics.

TRACKS:
01. Reaper Of Souls 4:43
02. Anguish 5:52
03. Cross The Line 4:46
04. Endless Fight 5:21
05. Revenge 5:46
06. Abysmal 5:04
07. Deceiver 4:59
08. Out Of Sight 4:17
09. Weakness 6:23

total: 43:53 min.
Confident about their new material and with unbroken passion for the music of their roots, the four musicians recorded their material in spring/summer of 2017.

Looking for a massive sound, the band got in touch with legendary Swedish producer Fredrik Nordström (At The Gates, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Hammerfall, Architects and many more).

Master Nordström mixed and mastered the 9 new songs at his Master Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden and gave the album the aggressive yet clear sound it deserves.

After negotiating with some record companies that were interested in their new material, DESDEMONIA finally chose to sign a worldwide record deal with Denmark’s premier Metal label Mighty Music in late 2017.

Influenced by the early and mid-nineties American and European Death Metal scene, DESDEMONIA's sound can be described as a mix of catchy stuff like Amon Amarth, straight forward At The Gates-like beats and more old school oriented melodies and groove in the vein of Dissection or Bolt Thrower. However, DESDEMONIA never try to keep pace with changing trends but cut their own path instead.

Ok this is just cool! Dont Fear the Dark!

Don’t Fear the Dark – children’s book available –  on pre-order

If Dr. Seuss and Ozzy Osbourne spent a crazy night out on the town, then this would be their story. Don’t Fear the Dark is a colourful children’s book detailing a loose and lucid history of metal music from its inception in the 60s to now. The first book sets the pace and the scene, and flows into a series of ten other books. That’s right, we’re taking it to 11!
The eleven books aim to educate young headbangers about a music scene that is often overlooked in society as well as inform the “littles” that there is nothing to fear about metal music. The book appeals to tiny tots and metal music lovers who love a good slash of alternative history.

Wordsmith, Lav Nandlall, isn’t just a fan of metal music but is also an avid supporter of the scene in South Africa and abroad. She is the managing editor of Pure Grain Audio, a Canadian-based alternative music website as well as freelance music journalist who has penned delicious stories about many bands such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Metallica. South African artist, Kaylee McHugh, brings the words to life. The layout was crafted by South African designer, Jeanine Breuer, who saw great potential in creating not just any book, but a book for many future generations.

Don’t Fear the Dark Vol. 1 details the birth of metal, and in the ten volumes later, the story unfolds to the evolution of the metal scene around the world. There aren’t many commercial books on the topic of metal music nor are there any books for younger audiences, so this is a first of its kind. It opens discussions about musical inspiration, artistic careers, style statements, adventure, and the macabre. People who are curious and intrigued by a world of music will find that there’s something in there for them.

The first book is available to pre-order directly from the author from December 2018. To secure your copy please contact Lav Nandlall airguitarblog@gmail.com

1000 DEAD THE GRINDER INTERVIEW

1. Thanks for your time. Tell us about your band and what you do for your band.

Hello. 1000Dead started back in 2013. Up until now we’ve released a self-financed promo and the debut album which came out via Metal Scrap Records. At the moment the band consists by Nick (guitars / vocals) and Petros (bass / back vocals)

2. When did you decide you wanted to be in a band?

Since we saw Metallica’s “one” video.

3. What is different about being a musician than you imagined?

Nowadays the musician has to be a multitasking tool just to save up some money in order to promote their music as best as possible. As we all know the music industry is not at its best…

4. What gear do you use and why?

We’re into the Marshall sound!

5. What music do you listen to that would surprise people?

Bohren & Der Club of Gore, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and… Hayseed Dixie!

6. How do we find your music and merch to buy?

Via bandcamp, or send a message to our fb page.

7. How did you get a record deal? Or do you want a record deal or are you DIY?

We started talking with Metal Scrap, they liked us and we got a deal. Simple as that.

8. What bands do people compare your music to?

Hatebreed, Lamb of God, things like that…

9. Are you pro Spotify / streaming services? Or do you think it hurts sales?

Definitely all these platforms help “small” bands like ours, to get heard in a bigger scale…

10. What’s the ultimate goal for the band?

Maybe do some gigs with bands like the ones mentioned before plus Converge, Mastodon!

11. Will we see you tour?

 Working on it!
12.  Who would you love to tour with?

Already said!

13. What is your favorite song of yours and why?

Bring a knife to a gunfight is a great song musically and also lyric-wise. We manage to capture all this “all hope is gone” vibe and despite its general “pessimism”, we enjoy it the most playing it live.

14. Why should people take the time to listen to your band over the thousands of other bands?

Eleven songs – 39minutes of music - almost 100 riffs.

15. What are your favorite music websites labels podcast etc?
Blabbermouth & metalsucks!

16. Is imagery important to you? Do you judge albums by the cover?

We judge albums only by its music.

17. If you could choose a cover song your band mates would hate what would it be?
S.O.D – Dog on the tracks. Hahaha!

18. Is the record or live show more important?

Both are equally important but for different reasons.

19. Name 3 people dead or alive you would want to play your music for.

Dime, Ben Weinman, Phil Anselmo.

20. Lemmy Ozzy Dio and Rob Halford in a cage match who wins?

Propably Ozzy. Dude’s got stamina!
