LORDS OF SALEM • Horror Hard Rock/Metal

The devil drinks fuel!
When an equally rough and pally end-time bunch brushes ‚DEAD POP SEX ACTION‘ as a musical style on its skull-embroidered Rock'n'Roll flag, it's time for a collective uproar!

And if those passionate tattoo maniacs in their ratty rags also look as seriously determined as the LORDS OF SALEM - freaking f***ing yes, then of course, you‘ve got to pump it up a whole lot louder!

In the middle of the tasteless, barren no-man's-land of the diluted mainstream, the charismatic four-piece strikes in the scene. LORDS OF SALEM let a massively invigorating overdose of the spark spraying 80s HARD ROCK flare up out of the amplifiers with the EP "Hell Over Salem".

Frontcover • "Hell Over Salem" • Artwork by Thomas Kilian
TRACKS:
01. Monster Girl 03:09
02. Hell Over Salem 04:06
03. Zombie Monkey Woman 03:44
04. Rock n Roll Machine 03:58

total: 14:59 min.
"Hell Over Salem" was officially published on October 31. 2018.

Electrifying songs come to life with a beguiling dark-occult touch. Lascivious, tongue-in-cheek songs that could not possibly be firmer, juicier and more compelling.

As a marketing strategy, fraudulent cunning fashion rockers, pseudo-rebellious leatherjacket-weekend-wearers, unspeakable trend-clowns and other little softener-boys are tearing holes in their new jeans, like to call that kind of appearance and music-making 'vintage' and thus are queuing up rather pettily into an artificial genre zeitgeist.

However with the four incurably decibel-addicted LORDS OF SALEM, it's just pure genuineness, deepest conviction and ultimately haunting reality!

LINE-UP:
Postel (Vocals)
Häriän (Guitar)
Marple (Bass)
Alex (Drums)
The timeless LA sound of the conspired heap around exceptional singer Postel dances ominously rapt, but deliciously frisky on a damn stable foundation that rivets the enormously powerful formation of guitar riffs that drive straight into the bones, hellishly hot with greedy pumping power drumming.

A dash of Danzig, a thick dose of Kiss, a poisonous injection of Mötley Crüe and a thick splash of Lordi refines the efficient formula.

The interesting band cross references are one thing, the other is the profound individuality of the crisp, yet also atmospheric material of LORDS OF SALEM!

Video Teaser for the EP "Hell Over Salem"

Four intuitively-unerringly composed, enthusiastically performed and magically catchy bitchin‘ tracks are being pounded into your ears, which you won‘t forget.

The songs of the current EP "Hell Over Salem" were powerfully produced by grandmaster Achim Köhler, whose work has also convinced such acts as Sinner, Brainstorm, Symphorce, Primal Fear, Sodom, Sonic Syndicate, Headhunter etc.

Gaze upon the jagged wasteland of history. We built our tower on this unstable ground, without really paying it any heed. It's a wonder that it's still standing at all. It almost reads like a Homeric tragedy.

WHO DOESN'T LOVE Cryogenic Implosion

1. Thanks for your time. Tell us about your band and what you do for your band.

Hi,we are in the city of Chernivtsi, northern Bukovina, this is in the west of Ukraine.  Our places are famous for ancient legends about Carpathian mountains, witches, sorcerers, etc.
We started ten years ago and since that time our musicians have changed. Today, our members are:  Pavel (Kadaamp) – guitar/vocals, Yaroslav (Basher) – guitar,  Alexander (Heretic) – bass and Arthur – drums, the most young member of Cryogenic Implosion.

2. When did you decide you wanted to be in a band?

I always liked hard music, as a child they were rock bands, then heavy metal, black metal, death metal & brutal death. I later became interested in the guitar, then played in some metal projects. Now Cryogenic Implosion is for me the main metal band.

3. What is different about being a musician than you imagined?

It's not so easy to be a musician and create music that other people like. In fact, this is more responsibility and you need to be prepared for what some will say - man, what kind of shit you play, stop doing it, grow up and be like everyone else! ))

4. What gear do you use and why?

I use tube head Peavey 6505+ and Engl preamp E530.  I Like this sound and it has been tested on live shows for years. My main guitar is Washburn HM 5V 1985 with active humbucker SD Blackouts. This is my basic set of equipment.

5. What music do you listen to that would surprise people?

OK, I do not listen to music to surprise people)), I listen to music and enjoy. It can be different music from classical to electronic music. But mostly it's heavy music, I like this fucking metal, I became addicted to it))

6. How do we find your music and merch to buy?

Our music and merch can be found through the label on which we are signed - this is the Metal Scrap Records. Soon we will launch a new design, which will be available on either the label or the band itself.

7. How did you get a record deal? Or do you want a record deal or are you DIY?

We sent our promo to several labels, and as a result, was selected on Metal Scrap Records, this is a great office and very nice people who do their job 100%.
We are very pleased to cooperate with them.

8. What bands do people compare your music to?

It is difficult for us to answer this question, how many people have so many opinions, but we are focused more on the American school of death metal, technical and atmospheric death metal…as you wish.

9. Are you pro Spotify / streaming services ? Or do you think it hurts sales?

No, we personally do not work, but our label does it as far as I know.

10. What’s the ultimate goal for the band?

Well, grow as a group, leave a mark on the history of heavy metal, try to create something original, maybe in the future someone will be a little inspired by our work))

11. Will we see you tour?

Maybe, but now we want to start recording a new album, and only then it will be possible to plan a tour in support of it.

12. Who would you love to tour with?

I don't even know a dude, we are always very happy to meet new people with good interest bands. Besides, we are very communicative band!))

13. What is your favorite song of yours and why?

All the songs from the new material are more mature and I like more. As well as tracks like: Process of Imagination, Die & Fall.

14. Why should people take the time to listen to your band over the thousands of other bands?

Because we try not to copy someone's music, but to create our own, to give it our own atmosphere.

15. What are your favorite music websites labels podcast etc?

Yes of course, Earache, Metal Blade, Relapse Records,  Podcasts: Metal Injection Podcasts, The MetalSucks Podcast, Metal Blade Records Podcasts

16. Is imagery important to you? Do you judge albums by the cover?

Yes, of course, it is important for us. The cover more accurately conveys the atmosphere of the music, gives the music a certain meaning.

17. If you could choose a cover song your band mates would hate what would it be?

Most likely they would crucify me for songs  - The cure, Guns n Roses, Cinderella, maybe Marilyn Manson etc. )))))))

18. Is the record or live show more important?

Recording and concert - everything is important to develop as a group. Playing live is cool dude, it's a cool boost of energy and communication with the Fun !!!

19. Name 3 people dead or alive you would want to play your music for.

Hmm, I find it difficult to answer this question, I do not have such people, I am ready to play for everyone ....

20. Lemmy Ozzy Dio and Rob Halford in a cage match who wins?

Haha, I think they will break the cage and conquer the world !!! Although they did!

WILDCLIFFE INTERVIEW

1.Thanks for your time. Tell us about your band and what you do for your band.

- Wildcliffe is a rock band that originated on the east coast of the USA.  My name is Matt and I write the music and play guitar for Wildcliffe.

Amber-I’m on vocals and I write the lyrics. Wildcliffe is unique in that the music is diverse. We aren’t trying to be anything and the creativity is allowed to flow freely.

2.When did you decide you wanted to be in a band?
- I decided I wanted to be in a band probably around the age of 10 but didn’t get my first guitar until the age of 13.  Listening to Beastie Boys Licensed to Ill as a child, I knew that music was the way of life for me.

Amber- I’ve been saying I wanted to sing since I could talk-it has always been something I wanted-my dream

3. What is different about being a musician than you imagined?

-Well, I thought I would learn to play, write awesome songs, and the rest would just fall into place.  Soon I would be on everybody’s tv and i’d be hanging out with celebrities drinking fancy champagne and cruising through life with not a care in the world.  It doesn’t really happen that way I figured out.

Amber-I never really imagined what it would be like. I just had a desire to express myself-i thought I would never get the chance but one day I woke up and started believing in myself.

4.What gear do you use and why?

-I have my tried and true Schecter C1 Classic guitar that has been with me for 10 years now.  I love that guitar.  It sounds great, stays in tune pretty well, and looks beautiful.  I have used it in the studio and live for nearly every opportunity I have had since I got it.  I also have a Laney Ironheart amp and Mesa Boogie cabinet that sound awesome together.  I like to have a sound that is not the same as all the other rock and metal players and I feel like I am able to craft that tone with this amp.

Amber: I use the Sennheiser e935 its an amazing mic for live rock vocals

5. What music do you listen to that would surprise people?

- I love The Offspring and Weezer and 90’s alternative.  But, I also get down with a lot of rock ballads from the 80’s and some sappy love songs.

Amber:  Rock is my thing but . I love Tori Amos-she is  my all time favorite -she is an amazing composer. I also have been known to enjoy some indie  folky/americana artists like Chris Pureka! Amazing lyricist and writer.

6. How do we find your music and merch to buy?
-You can find Wildcliffe on Itunes, Amazon, YouTube, or Spotify.  We also have a facebook page, www.facebook.com/wildcliffe.  As far as merch goes, we currently have a small inventory of tshirts that you can get from our etsy shop.  You can find a link to it on our facebook page.

7. How did you get a record deal? Or do you want a record deal or are you DIY? -Good question.  We are not signed to a label and would only do so if it was actually going to benefit us in the long run. There are a lot of bad deals going around these days and we aren’t going to sign with someone just for the sake of being able to brag about it.  Having some help reaching a wider audience is always good though.  So its definitely not off the table, it would just have to make sense.

8. What bands do people compare your music to?  -Well, for some reason our singer Amber often gets compared to Geddy Lee of Rush.  Lol, I have no idea why.  I don’t hear it.  I have also heard that we sound like Coheed and Cambria.  Honestly i’m not sure of a band that we are really that similar too. Any comparisons are well received though.

9. Are you pro Spotify / streaming services ? Or do you think it hurts sales?  I am pro streaming.  We are artists for the art.  The more people that can hear us the better.  Most artists I feel, are trying to move people with their art.  Most people probably won’t give two shits about your music.  But, there will be some that really love it.  To find those people you need to get your music in the hands of as many people as possible.

10. What’s the ultimate goal for the band?  -To be able to write and record as much great music as possible and to be able to connect with people.

11. Will we see you tour?  -Honestly, I don’t know.  You will see us for sure if you are willing to come find us.  We will be performing live somewhere.

12. Who would you love to tour with?  -Alter Bridge, Papa Roach, Avatar.  Preferably a band that doesn’t party too hard because we quit drinking, lol.

13.What is your favorite song of yours and why?  -My favorite recording of ours is Shelf Life.  It just has a certain vibe and feel to it that sits right in my happy place.

14. Why should people take the time to listen to your band over the thousands of other bands?  -I feel that we offer something unique and something that has a message.  Also I don’t think it will bore most people or cause them to find something else while listening.  We are heavy enough to hold the attention of the metal heads but the clean vocals and beautiful melodies will also please the basic rock listener.

15.What are your favorite music websites labels podcast etc?  I enjoy reading MetalSucks and Metal Injection.  I also read Guitar World magazine.  We are also big fans of Rock Rage Radio and a few other internet radio stations.

16. Is imagery important to you? Do you judge albums by the cover?  Yes, imagery is important. Everything from the cd artwork to the stage set and the press photos is important in painting the picture of what the music is supposed to be.  I enjoy seeing a band much more when they put effort into this.  But no, I do not judge music by an album cover.

17.If you could choose a cover song your band mates would hate what would it be?  Probably a Bon Jovi song, lol.

18.Is the record or live show more important? Well I suppose the record is.  But giving 100 percent at the live show is a must.  This is the time to connect with the audience and give them goosebumps.  They will purchase your music if you kick ass live.

19. Name 3 people dead or alive you would want to play your music for.  -My step Dad.  My grandma and grandpa.

20. Lemmy Ozzy Dio and Rob Halford in a cage match who wins?  -Ozzy.  I think because he is so out of his mind he would fight dirty and do anything not to die.

ASH OF ASHES Epic Skaldic Metal

On Nordic route
At the end of the year of the album release, ASH OF ASHES have created a very special treat for their fans:
A music video for the title song "Down The White Waters", which in less than three months could reach the absolutely remarkable number of 90.000 Spotify plays for a newcomer!

The epic Metal song has thus received the appropriate and mood-appropriate images, and was produced by the band themselves with the help of friends.

The recordings for the video were made in Norway as well as in the native Sauerland. It is about departure and the journey into the unknown. For ASH OF ASHES, the journey has just begun ...

Music Video for the title song of 2018's album 'Down The White Waters'

Only every few years appears in the spiritual-natural, epic-pagan area of the upscale Heavy Metal, a very special album classic, which seeks on a wide, artistic area of its kind.

And "Down The White Waters", the debut longplayer of ASH OF ASHES, joins this exquisite guild quite clearly and sublime.

The always accessible, often highly catchy and even clearly hit-capable compositions wander with healthy pride on melancholy, partly sad levels. But the musical soul of the band is free of bitterness and always focused on timeless aesthetics.

ASH OF ASHES • Skaldir • 2018
LINE-UP:
Skaldir • Vocals, Guitars, Keyboards, Bass
Morten • Lyrics, Vocals
Guests:
Dennis Strillinger • Drums
Mathias Gyllengahm • Nyckelharpa (on "Ash To Ash" & "Springar")
Runahild • Hardingfele (on "Seven Winters Long")
The strongly poetic, emphatically artistic and aesthetic style of ASH OF ASHES is best described as EPIC SKALDIC METAL.

Composing master Skaldir, who became known with the dissolved predecessor group HEL, wrote and arranged fabulously independent songs full of longing and passion, which inevitably instantly grab the soul of a real lover of such art.

Only the catchy instrumental "Springar" is based on a traditional melody that Skaldir interpreted and arranged in his own way.
 (Markus Eck)

MEDIA FEEDBACK • "Down The White Waters" • Album 2018:

10 / 10
"... in addition to the strong songwriting skills here are the very good clear vocals, the well contrasting growls of Morten and the extremely versatile instrumentation of the album ... rounded off is the overall picture by the great production which leaves no wish unfulfilled, and the harmonious cover artwork ... clearly one of the best albums and THE new discovery 2018!"
(Reaperzine)

5 / 5
"… a real gem of the genre, away from any conventions ... everything fits here: performance, production, visual framework ... the mentioned figureheads, the founding fathers of Pagan/Viking Metal would be proud of what Skaldir and Morten have raised with ASH OF ASHES and their debut album 'Down The White Waters' ... a masterful example of how magical music can be when highly talented artists simply let a project happen with total dedication."
(Stormbringer)

9,5 / 10
"… I am (...) heavily impressed ... ASH OF ASHES are resurrected like the Phoenix from the ashes of Hel ... a production that comes across crystal clear, does the rest ... reminds me very much of Bathory in the epic phase ... could be from Quorthon ... you hear at each corner of 'Down The White Waters', the emotions and heartbeat of a talented musician who has created with passion and hard work something that makes (...) lasting impact. Thanks for that!"
(Time For Metal)

9 / 10
"ASH OF ASHES do not hesitate and grab the stars with their debut 'Down The White Waters'. The album is so surprising and overwhelmingly good that the big labels should tear themselves for future releases!"
(Der Hörspiegel)

9 / 10
"When a title is called 'Flames On The Horizon', then the experts ASH OF ASHES bring Bathory epic from all pores ... one of the most honest but most also poignant Pagan Metal albums released in recent years ... real Epic Skaldic Metal."
(Heavy Metal.de)

9 / 10
"… filled to the rim with epic, symphonic Metal … the tracks are almost instantly memorable with hooky riffs, harmonies and vocal lines that stay with you … each track here stands on it’s own … I can’t find a weak spot on the album … solid song writing, great musicianship and lastly, a killer mix and production … I think this album has immense crossover appeal as it is not your typical 'Viking Metal' album … it transcends genres … and is just a great Metal album."
(Folk Metal.nl)

9 / 10
"… reminding in some parts Bathory or Falkenbach … quite good, all nine songs plus outro flow free with great melodic and intense moments … including an instrumental, 'Springlar' … the last four songs relate the story of Wayland, an heroic legend … definitively a project to follow!"
(Sounds From Apocalypse)

4 / 5
"… in the great tradition of Falkenbach where guitars are melodic, catchy, but they can also move towards aggression or slowness … we also find an atmospheric side to the Old Vintersorg with slower tempos … the folk side is really present … instruments like the Nyckelharpa, which is close to the wheel … as well as the Hardanger fiddle … ASH OF ASHES offers us a nice discovery with 'Down The White Waters' … a group that has mastered its subject with its Black sounds and traditional music."
(United Rock Nations)

13 / 15
"… mostly epic, with carried melodies and clear vocals ... Bathory (logically Quorthon's Viking phase) or even Ereb Altor as a comparison ... always exciting ... unconditional buy recommendation!"
(Folkmetal.at)

8,5 / 10
"… fat epic and hymnic tones, as they could not sound more Nordic ... traditional riffs with anthemic and folky influences ... a really great debut ... always varied and melodious ... frequently ... resonates a comforting melancholy, but never too much pull down ... each song has its own charm and recognition."
(Bleeding4Metal)

8,5 / 10
"ASH OF ASHES has succeeded in producing a touching album with 'Down The White Waters', which takes the listener into its own hands through its simplicity as well as its variable dynamics. The band eagerly collects plausible points without bold clichés …"
(Nocturnal Hall)

5,5 / 7
"A beautiful, unpretentious and extraordinary album ... unlike, for example, Falkenbach, ASH OF ASHES are more open-minded, more dynamic …"
(Metalnews.de)

7,7 / 10
"… creating a legendary atmosphere … an album that will appeal to lovers of Folk Metal, epic and black sounds, 'Down The White Waters' asks us to reserve some of our time for his compositions, to find ourselves in another dimension, floating in a sea of pagan and epic emotions."
(MetalEyes.IYE)

"ASH OF ASHES have a sense of captivating the listener ... a unique atmosphere."
(BlattTurbo)

"Who would have ever guessed a few years ago that the match between Art Rock and Extreme Metal would be so rewarding … ASH OF ASHES got to a perfect balance. It’s not easy to accomplish it …"
(Metal Addicts)

"… definitely interesting for the ones who like their style diverse, epic and melodic … ASH OF ASHES prove that they have a passion that is reflected quite well musically and technically … a fresh air and a release that I enjoyed … pretty sure this will be on my rotation every now and then … recommended to those who like Folk/Pagan/Epic Metal and those interested in mythological concepts!"
(Tempelores)

"In this debut album, ASH OF ASHES managed to offer a sound that I haven't heard since Bathory's 'Nordland Era' … very deep and concise but keeping in mind the atmosphere of the music in every moment … the compositions are quite interesting thanks to the incredibly well-crafted instrumentation throughout the album …"
(ProgFolker)

"… epic and imposing, melancholic but courageous … 'Down The White Waters' is a real surprise, a mature record that deserves to be known and listened to repeatedly … instead of looking for signs of life in groups that for too many years groped in super productions and do not make a really beautiful CD for more than ten years, it is appropriate to mark the name of ASH OF ASHES and discover the world contained in the ten tracks of this disk."
(Mister Folk)

"… album that is fun to hear from start to finish ... really convincing atmosphere, very epic, lots of folk influences from Scandinavia and packed with varied Metal songs - recommendation!"
(Amboss)

"Created by Hel's ash, Skaldir offers us ten epic tracks that have some surprises in store for fans of Falkenbach, Bathory and similar acts as well as for fans of the original Heavy Metal."
(Waldhalla)

"… a masterly record, which is perfectly put together … pure class … here is a grandmaster at work, who delivers the perfect painting as only masters in their profession can."
(Musiczine)

"10 epic hymns with orchestral power, sublime mysticism and melodies and great clear vocals ... intoxicate the senses ... unfold an extremely captivating energy ... who in the last few years has lost the hope of good Pagan Metal, will come back to taste by ASH OF ASHES ... absolute strong from start to finish and should be on the shelf with every Pagan fan right next to Bathory, Menhir and Windir."
(Metal Viewer)

"'Down The White Waters' is exemplary from top to bottom … the songwriting alongside the overall instrumentation is nothing of short of delicious … top-notch Folk Metal … a tasty record that has loads of potential …"
(Head-Banger Reviews)

"ASH OF ASHES surprise with an epic work ... listen to 'The Lay Of Wayland' ... it's worth ... very varied ... also spiced up with various other instruments - such as violins or fiddles and harps by guest musicians - and the harmonious vocals ... for November, the traditional mystical month that lures you into the foggy darkness ... clear buy recommendation."
(Bad Black Unicorn)

"… makes no secret of his calls to MÃ¥negarm and Thyrfing … ASH OF ASHES pack a varied and balanced concept … a good album, a debut that amalgamates many different influences and tells beautiful stories."
(Aristocrazia)

"The clear vocals create a hymnic atmosphere, which inevitably puts you into another world ... very varied ... different moods ... epic or primeval elements ... historical feeling …"
(Metalmamas Neuigkeiten)

"Impressive in evoking the best moments of Borknagar, Vintersorg, and heavier Folk Metal acts … an extremely strong and auspicious full-length debut release for ASH OF ASHES, almost guaranteed to earn them a place in the Folk Metal pantheon of bands like Korpiklaani, Moonsorrow, and Skyforger."
(Vile Views)

"ASH OF ASHES have made a genre contribution with their debut, which can score with a high degree of musical exhilaration, unaffected emotions and refreshing fearlessness in the face of international competition."

Blood Of Angels (US) Melodic Death Metal | Black Metal

US group Blood Of Angels is a musical group that blends the core genres of death metal, black metal and old school thrash metal, to create their own unique sound. Reigning from their hometown of Tampa, Florida, Blood Of Angels use their vocal and instrumental influences to comment heavily upon the lies that have been enveloped as truth among the general population. They are influenced by artists that include Slayer, Amon Amarth, Dark Tranquility and Morbid Angel.

During 2017 Blood Of Angels were honored with numerous independent music awards. They won for “Best Metal/Hardcore Song” at the 16th Annual Independent Music Awards, and “Best Metal Song”, “Best Metal EP” for Rise Of The Fallen Gods and “Best Metal Video” for Odin’s Wrath (see below) at the August 2017 Akademia Awards. The year culminated with the “Metal Band of the Year Award” at the 5th Annual International Music and Entertainment Awards.

Now, with the signing to Sliptrick Records, Blood Of Angels are looking to take the next step on the international stage and have begun tracking for their next release, the debut full-length album The Failure Of Faith, due out via Sliptrick in 2019. Before then, Sliptrick Records will make a special single/lyrics video release for the track Miscreant Deeds Of Loki (from the Rise Of The Fallen Gods EP) on January 25th.
