Solium Fatalis interview

1.   Please tell us about the about the band and its members.

We are Solium Fatalis, we’re from New Hampshire, Jeff Demarco is on Vocals and Bass, Ryan Beevers and Jim Gregory on guitars, and Jeff Saltzman is on drums.

2. Who does the majority of the writing? Is it a group thing or does someone handle the writing duties?   Ryan and Jim do most of the song writing, and Jim will often do some songs on his own, and Jim writes all the lyrics and concepts. But often Jeff Saltzman or Demarco will throw ideas in here and there and of course write their own parts on their instruments or cater the parts to their playing.

3. Where is the band based out of ? Where did you want to the band to end up? What was the dream city to have as your home base once you got out of your scene?

New Hampshire and we want to end up right where we are now, moving forward with music and kicking ass.  Montreal is a great dream city to be playing music out of, the fans kick ass and they support their scene, New York rules too.  We definitely want to play the west coast and blast California.  Australia is high on the list of places we wanna go too.

4. What is your genre? What bands do you use to explain  to people what you sound like?

We have been called a slew of descriptions “blackened melodic death metal” being the most verbose.  We just say extreme metal.  Very often we’ve been compared to Hate, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Hypocrisy but we believe we don’t sound exactly like anyone.  Solium sounds like Solium

 5. Can we buy anything from you Cd's shirts etc and where can we buy them?

yes you can www.soliumfatalis.com follow the links!

6. Do you have studio time lined up anything new coming soon?

We have our new album coming out OCTOBER 13 “Genetically Engineered to Enslave” it’s our 4th and most devastating and beautiful release to date.

7. Have you ever been on tour? If so where and with who?

Yes we have.  We’ve done two tours with Soul Remnants and have played live with Cryptospy, Belphegor, Unmerciful, and a ton of awesome bands and we’re gonna do more!

8. What is your favorite band? Who are the bands who influenced you?

I have about 200 favorite bands so that question is hard to answer but I can say that my influences come from Celtic Frost, Exodus, Obituary, Forbidden, Vio-Lence, Dark Angel, and a ton of bands that I can’t think of right now.

9. Do you have a website? And do I have to verify that I am 18 to enter it?

haha yes we do it’s for all ages www.soliumfatalis.com and it is a one stop shop for all things Solium Fatalis

10. What about your music do you want people to remember? What is the quality you want to hit people when they hit play?

We want them to remember that they liked it, and we blew them away live.  Mostly what they say about us now is it’s “VERY HEAVY!”

 11. Name a person who is integral to your band that nobody knows about , what person drives your band like they are part of the band? Who is the extra member ?

Charles Ayala does a shit ton of behind the scenes work for us and Ehren Hill who will often do some engineering and live sound for us is also an extension of the band but we couldn’t do it without so many other people who support what we do right down to our friends who share the music with their friends.  That has been huge.

12. Tell nerds like me tell us about your live rig and equipment.

Jeff Demarco uses BC Rich Widow Bass, Mark Bass 4x10 Cabinet and some kind of amp that he won’t tell me cuz’ he’s busy fucking around today while we try to do this interview.

Ryan Beevers uses ESP Guitars, ENGL Invader and a Vader 4x10 custom cab

Jim Gregory uses Caparison Guitars, KSR Orthos II, and a Cruelty 4x10 custom cab

Jeff Saltzman uses this piece of shit Pearl drum set that desperately needs to be replaced so all you companies needing a bad ass to endorse look no further.  He also uses a combination of Zildjian and Paiste cymbals and other junk that he needs replaced.

13.What is your musical guilty pleasure that you are ashamed of?

Anything Jeff Demarco listens to is pretty shameful.  Epica, Wintersun, Leaves Eyes, it’s all pretty lame and embarrassing.  He often goes to those concerts by himself.  As well he should.

14.If you could custom build a band who would be the members?

We did, it’s called Solium Fatalis.  We don’t care what other bands do.
15.Message to the fans? What is it?

Thank you for supporting us, tell your fucking friends.
