BLACKTONES INTERVIEW

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Hi! Aaron’s here. Gianni (bass) and Sergio (guitars)  started this project in 2011 and now the band is a bit changed: beside them, there’s me on vocals, Maurizio Mura on drums and Paolo Mulas on guitars. We published one EP with Simone Utzeri on vocals, our first full length in 2015 with me replacing Simone and our new album “The Day We Shut Down The Sun” in 2017.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name tries to evocate the music we do. Music with black tones, instrumentally and by the lyrics, and so we get to… The Blacktones3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are
there any local bands you could recommend?

Yeah, The Blacktones are a part of a scene, located in Sardinia, Italy, and even it’s not perfect, it’s still a great scene! We’re personally proud to know and see prosper some great bands that born from our cities. Some of them are known worldwide and we are very happy for them!

Here’s some names: Black Capricorn, Raikinas, Charun, Desert Hype, Ilienses Tree, Fanculo Merda HC and so on!

4. How would you describe your style?

We describe ourselves as a sludge metal band, but our  boundaries are not carved in stone, we just play and made our music without sticking on a genre too much.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your
Works?

As we said at the beginning we have now an EP (2012) and two full albums (2015, 2017). We also play in other bands (Elepharmers, Acts Of Tragedy, Dogmathica, Shardana), and with them we contribute with their official releases

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We’re just at the beginning but yes, we have a new bunch of riffs to work with. It’s very cool stuff, can’t wait to work to the next album!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We played some gigs around the island to promote the record, and we’ll continue to do so during all 2018.  We’re also planning a tour, so we’ll let you know soon about it!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We’re still promoting the album, but we are working on some official videos we want to release this year.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Our music is available on most famous music streaming services, our label shop and our bandcamp page (https://theblacktonesband.bandcamp.com). We like to share our music, so you can listen our entire discography without buying it

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your
music for the first time?

We just hope to entertain them until the running time of the album is over. Smoking, drinking with friends, and let the trip just go! That’s also the reason why we do not have shared the lyrics yet. We don’t want force the listener to find their meaning too much. They are just the steps to reach the final destination, the last track.
