AN OLD SCHOOL ALBUM REVIEW featuring BLACK SUN TRINE By Jeremy Amack

On this episode of An Old School Album Review we're discussing Black Sun Trine from Los Angeles, California.

We spoke with the band prior to this review here's what they had to say:

Tuning?

We tune to a strange ancient tuning . 432A . On the new album . It’s called Ascension it’s coming out fall 2020 .

Bands you have played with?

Bands I’ve played with , played with Sovereignty out of the Bronx NY . And Imminent Destruction also a New York band . Destruction was first trio I was in

Accomplishments?

Accomplishments, ... I feel great that I was able to survive a nearly fatal car accident in 2016 , still recovering, but I was able to do this new album . Was quite an accomplishment for me .

Funny/weird story about your band?

Funny story , the first drummer we locked in the drum room while recording our first album . Because he was throwing his sticks in rage , when he screwed up a part of the song .😂😂. So we locked him in for our own safety, he was a big guy . He was fine though . ðŸ˜‚😂😂 He did a great job . Brandon Whynaucht

Let's get to the review:

AM I ALONE

Intresting deep fuzz tone..
Crashes into the song almost immediately..
Vocals are on point, sung really well !!!
Love that hook..
Has an 80's sound like but from a kewl band, like WASP..
Supreme riffing..
Bass lines are slappin..
Let's funky there for a minute  but establishes that metal groove again..
NICE SOLO!!!
Ends good too..

(This was my favorite)

REACH OUT

Starts out with a slow bass filled groove..
Vocals sound good..
Gets heavy with a sudden impact..
I love the lyrics..
Slick lead guitar,  sharp crisp notes..
Band keeps a solid groove well with a full sound.

EARTH

That's how you start a song!!!
Pretty heavy lyrics "Man has raped the Earth"
Like the spoken part..
Another awesome solo and dude can sing the lyrics right along with it..
Pretty intense song I'd love to see it live..
I love how this ends just beautiful.

ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE

Starts out screamin!!!
Goes right into a kickass riff..
I like the lyrical flow whe he says "Only the Strong Survive"
Has a quality 80's feel to it..
That guitar has some great sustain..
He's right.. "only the strong SURVIVE, can't hurt what inside"

NUCLEAR WAR

Starts out with an explosion for sure..
Love the lyrics they're absolutely true, I'll just leave it at that this song speaks for itself.

BLACK WITCH

Love the groove to this..
Great vocal presentation..
Pretty full sound at the 2 minute mark don't know how they did that but it sounded kewl..
Sounds like some pretty good finger tapping in the solo, each solo has been pretty SIC so far..

Bottom line:
This band brings back memories of those kickass 80's bands that just rocked your face of live, having some beers and you wouldn't even know this was an underground band..
