HARD ROCK
San Francisco Bay Area hard rockers’ LIPSHOK has done it
again with a new album that is progressive metal and symphonic rock and gothic
with layers of vocal harmonies, melodic keyboards and technical guitar
shredding driving the tracks. The result is a new sound once again for the band
with an amazing variety of backgrounds and compositional skills. The music is
mesmerizing with stories of visiting other worlds, finding love and loss,
spiritual realms to explore, and all the emotions in between.
What’s unusual about the band is the female lead
vocalist/keyboardist/songwriter/mom Scarlett Dark. Her day job is tennis pro.
But why this dark side for a tennis pro and opera singer? “It’s in my soul –
what I’ve been drawn to since I was a child. My music is just a natural
outpouring of my experiences and emotions…as much as that can be trapped and
released.”
The CD “Shadows of a Dark Heart” is deep and thought
provoking with songs about striving for a better life “Answer the Call”, fantastical
stories “Looking Glass”, and overcoming challenges “Don’t Fear Defeat”. The
first release “And So He’ll Fly” is the tragic story of Icarus and the video is
a wonderful animated updated version of the story.
The band members are: Scarlett Dark – lead vocals/keyboards,
Massimiliano Maggiari – guitar, Phil Jameson – Bass, and Joe Londeree – Drums.
The newest video for “And So He’ll Fly” is viewable now at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsLBj3rwCBw
All the songs will be released in the Fall of 2020.
Available at CD Baby and in Europe with Sliptrick Records as well.
