1.What
is the name of your band and how did you come up with it? "Brackish
Tide" was decided on after several months of searching for an
unused original name. So one evening one of our members comes in and
says the name (our rehearsal space was also next to the Pocomoke
river). We ALL immediately jumped on our phones and couldn't find it
anywhere so we grabbed it!!
What
is your name and what do you do for the band? I'm
Murdock - a founding member, one of the guitarist and generally the
social network geek. I'm Dubya - Rhythm guitar and vocals. I bring
the hurt. I'm DD - Bass, vocals and songwriting. I'm Timmy 6 -
Percussion, promotion and comic relief.
2.Tell
us where you're based and describe the scene. How do you think where
you are located influences your sound. We
are from an area of the Virginia/Maryland State line on a Peninsula
near the Atlantic ocean. The scene is getting a little more metal
friendly as of late but our best gigs are usually in the Baltimore
area (2 hours away). Our area is somewhat rural save a few tourist
attractions which gives us a more organic sound. That being said, I
believe the Brackish sound is formed more from our collective musical
influences then from the location!!
3.Who
influences your sound that would surprise people? We
appreciate great songwriters such as Neil Diamond and Paul Simon!
4.Are
you endorsed by musical companies , if so who , and if not who would
you like to be endorsed by? InTune
Guitar Picks,
5.When
you started what was your ultimate goal? And how close to the goal
are you now? To
have fun (and get chicks)!! LOL!! No seriously - writing and playing
original music is our passion and we're definitely doing it!!
6.In
today's digital environment it takes creative strategy to keep things
moving. What creative ideas do you have to keep your band relevant
over time? Dedicated
social media presence and creative and catchy songwriting!!
7.We've
all seen a terrible live band that is awesome on CD. Is that cool
with you or do you lose respect for bands that cannot pull it off
live? Usually
this turns me off completely. I may still listen to the band
occasionally but try my best not to see them live again!
8.Tell
us your “core” are you Metal , Rock , Punk , Pop etc because
people just have to categorize these days you know? We're
mostly metal with a touch of
rock.
9.This
is a tough question but a very real reality, Is your band actually
talented or just popular?
Many
bands make it with a cliche or publicity stunts etc. Would you accept
fame if it was just because of being the “ in” thing or is it
actually important to you that you gain favor with talent? I
would like to think that we're a mixture of both
talent
and popularity. Along those lines I would love for the band to "make
it" on pure talent but I would also not mind being known for
being geniune nice guys.
10.Tell
us what to expect from you live. Nothing is more boring than watching
bands stare at the floor and bob their heads to music nobody but the
band knows. What can your band offer in a live setting that people
will remember? An
energetic performance that tries to captivate the audience and groovy
riffs that keep your head moving.
11.
What releases have you put out , When will we see something new? We
released our first full length CD in September of 2015 named "The
View From Below". More recently we put out a single in October
of 2017 entitled "Carpe Noctum". As of early 2019 we have
begun recording demos in preparation for a second full length
offering! All music is available here:

Or for some live video go to: https://www.facebook.com/BrackishTide/
13.Everybody
has Bandcamp , ReverbNation , Soundcloud , etc
Why
do you think this is so important? Doesn't it seem like everyone is
giving everything out for free? The
music business has definitely changed with the popularity of the
internet and has provided a platform for bands to distribute their
music worldwide. To that end it is crucial that a bands' music be
available online and most fans may not want to pay for it until you
have a gained a certain level of success so giving away your music
may pay for itself in merch sales, future fans and more popularity.
14.Best
moment of your career so far? When
we released our first CD "The View From Below".
15.Your
message to the fans?
