What is your name and what do you do for the band?
The name of the band is TOR MARROCK and the name came to me when I was reading about celtic mythology and legends , in the mythology Tor is a gateway to the other world and Marrock was a knight who could turn into a wolf at night so I put the 2 words together and for me the meaning of the name TOR MARROCK is that a better world can be found and you can change so it is a very positive name.
As I am the founder and songwriter of the band it made sense for me to also be called Tor Marrock I do the guitars and vocals.
2.Tell us where you are based and describe the scene. How do you think where you are located influences your sound.
We are based in midwest Wales UK in the mountains by the sea a very rural place there is no metal scene in the area therefore we very much forged our own sound we are surrounded by history old churches and castles and we always ended up practicing and recording in old cellars of churches and old buildings which influenced the dark sound .
3.Who influences your sound that would surprise people?
People are very surprised when I say I am very much influenced by 80s hair metal and I would go as far as to say it has been the biggest influence alongside traditional metal such as Priest,metallica and Maiden
4.Are you endorsed by musical companies , if so who , and if not who would you like to be endorsed by?
At the moment I am endorsed by ZombieDust guitar pickups and our drummer has an endorsment with Sonor Drums,I think I would like to be endorsed by Digitech guitar pedals as I have used them from the very start I currently use the rp500
5.When you started what was your ultimate goal? And how close to the goal are you now?
When I started my goal was to get 4 albums released and be proud of them so I am 1 album away ,although there are big problems with the 1st album (a gothic romance) in production and some songs should not have been on it but 70% of the songs stood the test of time so I am proud of it .I have struggled to make good videos for the songs so that is also a goal I need to achieve
Promoting the band has not been a strong point for me,I have labelled our music as Cellar Metal because when asked in the past what is your genre it was difficult to pin it down and as we always ended up in cellars I decided to call it cellar metal as far as I am aware we are the only and original Cellar Metal band
7.We've all seen a terrible live band that is awesome on CD. Is that cool with you or do you lose respect for bands that cannot pull it off live?
I have respect for a band that sounds awesome on CD but if they cant do it live and have to use lots of backing tracks then for me they should not play live .
8.Tell us your “core” are you Metal , Rock , Punk , Pop etc because people just have to categorize these days you know?
Ah this goes back to a part of another earlier answer I think we are difficult to categorize as there is death,gothic,black,metal,rock,doom so I will stick with Cellar Metal haha
9.This is a tough question but a very real reality, Is your band actually talented or just popular?
Many bands make it with a cliche or publicity stunts etc. Would you accept fame even if it was just because of being the “ in” thing or is it actually important to you that you gain favor with talent?
Well we are certainly not popular ha ,we have been going since 2005 and we havent changed so not much chance of us being the inthing so if in the future we got some big exposure and became popular I would like to think it was because of talent.
10.Tell us what to expect from you live. Nothing is more boring than watching bands stare at the floor and bob their heads to music nobody but the band knows. What can your band offer in a live setting that people will remember?
HAHA we dont even bob our heads .we put on our cloaks and masks fill the stage with smoke dim the lights and play the songs as furiously and as heartfelt as we can.
11. What releases have you put out , When will we see something new?
A GOTHIC ROMANCE (casket records 2007) HEAVENS DEATH LIGHTS KINDLE (a rerecording of 'a gothic romance' self release 2010) DESTROY THE SOUL (black vulture records 2013) and our new release which is out this month on vinyl,digipack cd and standard cd THE CONCEPT OF SELF (black vulture records 2019)

Why do you think this is so important? Doesn't it seem like everyone is giving everything out for free?
Yes we do have them but only put very few songs on there and recently even less I think it is good for a band starting out so they can get feedback and get people to have a listen and less important as a band gets older.
