THE AXEMEN SERIES : Roly Moore / SEDULOUS ROUSE

1.Tell us your name and the band you play for

Roly Moore, I play for SEDULOUS ROUSE

2.Who made you want to pick up the guitar

It was Slash, first guitarist I really idolized.

3.Are you self taught or did you take lessons?

.I had lessons when I was a lot younger but have been just progressing as I can on my won since. I read a lot and watch tutorials online as well.

4. Can you read music, Can you read tab?

I can read TAB no problems and I can read music a little bit.
.

5.Do you feel like you have your own sound / tone ?

We play in open E standard which these days is quite unique in metal I suppose and I don’t use a lot of gain in my settings to get more clarity.

6.Tell us about your guitar ( brand ,model . year , color )

I currently play a Schecter C1 Custom FR, 2012 in see through black. Has an Original Floyd Rose Tremolo which I absolutely love. It is a solid body neck through which I think delivers a more consistent sound.

7.What about pickups? Passive or active ? Tell us about them

This guitar has Seymour Duncan Custom pick ups, a SH-11/’59 and a SH1N, these give me a lot of versatility, really rich lead tones and crunchy rhythm tones but also warm cleans.

8.Lets get into amplification, Same drill brand , model , speakers etc

I have an Avid Audio Elvenrack digital amplifier which I run through a Marshall 9100 Poweramp. I play this through a Carvin Legacy Quadbox.

9.Do you have a pedal board? Tell us about that badboy

To switch between my patches I use a Voodoo Lab Ground Control Pro which is just brilliant. It uses Midi to control the switching and is tough as nails and has never let me down!

10..Now tell us your Dream Rig in detail…..

I am very happy with my current set up, I would like to delve a little more into a stereo set up as we are a three piece so another quad box and an ability to control the panning of what I am doing would be the dream! Plus a few more guitars, would love a Paul Reed Smith guitar but they are out of my price range!

11.What guitarist can you not stand?

Zakk Wylde, brilliant player but I find his music very boring.

I12. Is tone more important or is technique?

Technique is more important because without it tone doesn’t matter, but tone helps to give clarity and your own voice rather than just being a clone of everyone else’s sound!

13. Name your top 5 guitarist
SLASH,

Steve Howe,
Paco De Lucia,
Chuck Schuldiner,
Joe Haley

14.Who is the most overrated guitarist

Plenty of overrated guitarists, most singer songwriters on “popular” radio!

15.Who would you like a one hour private sit down lessons with anyone dead or alive?

Definitely Chuck Schuldiner, here has been a huge influence on my songwriting and the way I think about composition.
