Exclusive Methane Interview Tim Scott

1.Introduce yourself and your band and tell us why we should listen to you.

Hi, I’m Tim Scott . I play bass, drink beer and scream at people in Methane. We play a southern style groove metal mixed with thrash metal.

2.What do you classify your sound as, Who do you tell people you sound like?

Our bio names bands like Lamb of God and Slayer. We have been compared to everyone from Motorhead to Machine Head. We play with bands like Nervosa, The Haunted. Our new stuff has a  harder more honest thrash sound with big fat southern grooves.

3.With digital music in today's world would you vote to keep or eliminate physical media?

Digital is king right now and if we don’t adapt we die. But thing go in circles, I would say its a supply and demand question really, physicals sell real well at shows.

4.What is the reason you decided to be a musician and has that reason paid off?

I wanted t meet chicks and get laid, yes.

5.How do you feel about females in metal getting special attention? Do you feel it is fair?

Yeah it’s a boring trend now. 85% of metalheads are dudes so it’s pretty much just trying to sell tickets to horny guys at this point. I do have alot of respect for female musicians. I knew Derketa who pretty much were the first all female death metal band back in the day, and you have the afore mentioned Nervosa who are out right metalheads. But the sex sells type women in metal , I’m over it.

6.In the world climate with hatred being at an all time high and metal being an “ angry” music Do you think your music contributes to anger and hatred?

It is a pretty well known fact that metalheads are the most well ajusted and humane group of people of music’s sub cultures. Look at hip hop and the snot nose radio listening kids. Who is shooting who?

7.Are you opposed to religious beliefs or politics being used in music?

Freedom of speach and expression, use it or loose it.

8.We have dive into some pretty deep issues here do you think your music sends a message and if so what is it?

I hope everyone can translate our songs for themselves , giving them thier own meaning. I write lyrics mostly about my own scars and if you can relate in someway thats awesome.

9.The market has changed and many bands believe that record labels are a thing of the past, with many labels now charging bands to “sign” how do you think a band can make it in todays scene?

Its hard, Rob from Conquest said something in an interview I heard him do. Something to the effect of that the industry as is today is forcing musician to be grown ups, and I agree with that. We are trying learn a new way of life labels and musicians. Rise , destroy, rebuild. As far as labels, managers or booking agents charging bands, it’s not very trustworthy in my opinion. Where are they getting thier incentive from! Why should they push me? They already made thier money.

10.Why with the thousands of options including netflix , sporting events everything on demand Why do you think people should take the time to listen to what you have to say in your music?

Put like that its hard to answer, I’m not making music to be in some kind of spotlight that everyone has to see. It’s humbling that someone takes the time to listen and even more if they dig it.

11.How do you feel about pay to play? Do you think it is fair for a band to have to pay money to play?

It depends, to play a local gig with other local bands , that’s just a scam. I understand more as support on a major tour, but its a buisness, you have to weigh the risk and rewards. Can I sell enough merch to make my money back? Will this push my product to another level? As in any buisness you need to approach everything goal oreinted and with an agenda.

12.It is fact that you are the talent and the entertainment explain what you think is the most important key to success?

Still tryin to figure that out. Being real I guess, staying grounded.

13.In country music and even in some cases rock music is written and performed by different people would your band perform a song written by someone else?

Maybe a cover but not an original. They can get thier own damn band. The defeats the whole point of having a band to begin with. Milly Vanilly shit.

14.If you are pro female in music are you pro using sex to sell your music?

I do it all the time, I’m just so damn sexy. Checkout my boobs.

15.What is your view on the lawsuits against people saying lewd or unprofessional things to women or men and how does that affect an art described as sex drugs and rock n roll ?

I’m not really aware of any particular cases but it sounds like a typical butthurt situation. Society is turning into a bunch of over sensitive pussies.

16. Ok lets lighten up a bit. What is your favorite band of all time and why?

Can’t answer that for real. That’s one of those trick questions.

17.What would you be doing if you were not in a band?

Watching pornhub

18. Do you have a favorite sports team?

The Raiders and NJ Devil’s.

19.If you could get on stage with anyone dead or alive who would it be?

Oh so many! But I have to say being on stage with Jimi ( Guitarist in Methane) is one of my favorite things in the world. We have so much fun!

20.This is your shot to let loose, Throw down your biggest complaint about the music biz

Dudes complaining no one goes to thier gigs when they themselves sit at home playing Xbox and don’t support the scene. Middle fingers all around to those concieted asshats. Go out and support and promote yourself and the live scene !
