MARTIN TEMPLUM DOMINI Interview

1.What is the name of your band and how did you come up with it?
What is your name and what do you do for the band?

- I´m Mario Vico, drummer of the metal band "MARTIN TEMPLUM DOMINI". MTD started as and idea from the virtuoso guitarist Carlos Martin. He had some
songs recorded and when I listen the songs was impossible to resist to join the band, together with his son Ivan Martin, another awesome musician.
I felt that the music was totally different and new, plenty of fast, hard and virtuoso riffs and guitar solos. So I decided to join the band
inmediatly when Carlos asked me about it and record the first and new album.

2.Tell us where you are based and describe the scene. How do you think where you are located influences your sound.

- We are from Barcelona, Spain. Here there´s a lot of good bands, but most of them are influenced by the mainstream of metalcore or death metal,
I think that is something general in all Europe. We respect that style, but we want to offer something totally fresh and new. We think that´s
the reason why people that listen us and come to our concerts likes the band.

3.Who influences your sound that would surprise people?

- We listen a lot of music. Muse, overall the firts albums, classical music, we love Rachmaninov, Beethoven, Wagner and Paganini within others.
Also other new bands that appears and are totally new and offer diferent styles are cool for us.

4.Are you endorsed by musical companies , if so who , and if not who would you like to be endorsed by?

- Not at this moment, and for sure we like to be.

5.When you started what was your ultimate goal? And how close to the goal are you now?

There´s not an ultimate goal in music, at least we think so. I mean, there´s a lot of stages that you must to achive, and when you arrive and achive one
stage, the goal is to achive the next an so on. In kinda to make us always active and living the moment and thinking in the future with the same enfort.
But is clear that any musician or band wants to arrive as long as possible in this career.

6.In today's digital environment it takes creative strategy to keep things moving. What creative ideas do you have to keep your band relevant over time?

Totally agree. Tools as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and all social media are very important for us. They are a really strong weapons to spread your music
to the world. We´re always thinking in the next band promo too, the aproach, if it will be a video, a documentary to make people closer to us and viceversa, etc,
giving all material possible to make fans tunned for the next thing.

7.We've all seen a terrible live band that is awesome on CD. Is that cool with you or do you lose respect for bands that cannot pull it off live?

- I think live is one of the most important things in a band career. Everybody knows that a bad singer can do awesome thing in studio thanks to the technology,
or to stay recording that fucking hard riff during a lot of time, take a few parts, make a copy / paste, and done. Some CD´s sounds really cold due that, or
others simply sounds amazing, but when you wacth them on live is plenty of fucking samplers, and you...really?? So for this reason we respect a lot the bands that have
a solid live, you know that concerts that sounds incredible well, nevermind if is not exactly like in the CD, but the band is putting all the heart on the live
and you receive the energy, a true metal from the soul. We are more in the brand that live is much more important, is the true face of the band.
If you can do a good CD putting all you spirit on it and you can do a live with the same spirit, oh man....you have more than my respect.

8.Tell us your “core” are you Metal , Rock , Punk , Pop etc because people just have to categorize these days you know?

- Honestly we hate tags. When an artist have to explain a picture, and sculpture, etc....something is wrong. Because each person listen diferent things in the same
track, that´s the cool part of the music. As I said before, we try to make something fresh and new. Is it metal? yes....but other style inside metal.

9.This is a tough question but a very real reality, Is your band actually talented or just popular?
Many bands make it with a cliche or publicity stunts etc. Would you accept fame even if it was just because of being the “ in” thing or is it actually important to you that you gain favor with talent?

- Is not tough at the end. Talent over popular always. First is the music, then you can put fireworks and so in the stage if you want more show. If the question is "are you on sale?", answer is not,
we are really proud of what we do, and good things always brings good things, may be make us popular. But We´re totally based on to believe in what we are doing, if not, nothing has sense.
We do it not only for us, but for the fans, that at the end, they are the ultimate ones who decide if a venue is empty or full. You could find us playing at a metal festival or an American Idol the same metal song....hell yeah.

10.Tell us what to expect from you live. Nothing is more boring than watching bands stare at the floor and bob their heads to music nobody but the band knows. What can your band offer in a live setting that people will remember?

We make our lives as interactive with the people as possible, I think that´s the key. Fans wants to sing the songs melodies, etc...., you must to give it to them. Guitar and drums solos where they can interact, and
a good intense set of songs in all the senses, attitude, visual, and for sure, a really good performance.

11. What releases have you put out , When will we see something new?

Right now we are promoting our first and new album, released on October 2018, called as the same name of band "Martin Templum Domini". Although we are always compossing, we are totally focus on this release.

12. If you have videos where can we see them?

In our website, www.martintemplumdomini.com , and in all the social media, there´s plenty of videos, previews, pics, artwork, and more cool stuff from the band

13.Everybody has Bandcamp , ReverbNation , Soundcloud , etc
Why do you think this is so important? Doesn't it seem like everyone is giving everything out for free?

We have not that feeling, is the tehcnology era, and a music band should adapt to the times and the things that are happening. We have Bancamp and Soundcloud, but in our case we dont our CD there , we use them
as platform to people can listen us in previews. You can use that tools as you think is ok for the band. Some bands are selling their CD´s for free on this platforms, but is understandable in the cases where this bands cannot find
record labels, is kind of promotion sacrificing one release. It depends of every band, but all promotions are important.

14.Best moment of your career so far?

It is always to come!!!, hehehe. We are in a good time, but more good things are coming...always.

15.Your message to the fans?
