What is your name and what do you do for the band?
Hey there!! I'm Lucy, vocalist of Apothica.
We came up with the name from me and one of our old guitarists being food nerds. I am a foodie so I love wine....an apothic wine means that it is a blend of different types of wine. So if there are different wines in the same area, and one is too sweet, one is too bitter, one is too sour, the vintners will get together and blend them to make an "apothic" blend and come out with a better flavor overall. So thats kindof where the name comes from. All of us have different backgrounds and styles of music we're into, and what influences us, but together we make a better "flavor" together instead of separately!
2.Tell us where you are based and describe the scene. How do you think where you are located influences your sound.
We are from Houston! The scene here is pretty great actually. Lots of very talented and passionate musicians, especially in the metal scene here. We're pretty lucky to be friends with just about all of them. I think where we're influenced by a lot of the progressive bands in Texas in general. The southern rock movement gave us a lot of soul and bounce in our music. Gotta make the people move!!
3.Who influences your sound that would surprise people?
Our primary influences are Periphery, Veil of Maya, August Burns Red, Polyphia, and The Contortionist. A lot of our less expected influences come from Ella Fitzgerald, Queen, Bruno Mars, and countless jazz trumpet & sax masters.
4.Are you endorsed by musical companies , if so who , and if not who would you like to be endorsed by?
We aren't currently endorsed but we are definitely looking forward to being endorsed by Ibanez, Kiesel, Shure, a
5.When you started what was your ultimate goal? And how close to the goal are you now?
I would say all of our ultimate goal with music is to make a career out of it and have it as our primary source of income. We are profiting off of our tours already, so we are getting there!
6.In today's digital environment it takes creative strategy to keep things moving. What creative ideas do you have to keep your band relevant over time?
More music and videos for sure, we are also looking forward to doing acoustic "unplugged" style shows including all of our songs to show our diversity.
7.We've all seen a terrible live band that is awesome on CD. Is that cool with you or do you lose respect for bands that cannot pull it off live?
I think we can all agree if you can't play it well live, don't perform at all.
That's most of the reasoning behind being a musician is being able to move people in a live environment. We take pride in sounding good both recorded and live. I personally think its a sin to sound great recorded and terrible live. Either practice or get the fuck off the stage. The practice put in is what gives you the right of way to perform in front of people. Nobody wants to watch you suck.
8.Tell us your “core” are you Metal , Rock , Punk , Pop etc because people just have to categorize these days you know?
Definitely metal. We strongly consider ourselves progressive metal core.
9.This is a tough question but a very real reality, Is your band actually talented or just popular?
Many bands make it with a cliche or publicity stunts etc. Would you accept fame even if it was just because of being the “ in” thing or is it actually important to you that you gain favor with talent?
Absolutely not. To us, its all about the music. If you have to put on some sort of fakeness to get to where you want to be, you might as well not be there at all. We don't want to be the "in" thing. We want to make music for people who are the "out" people anyway, like us.
10.Tell us what to expect from you live. Nothing is more boring than watching bands stare at the floor and bob their heads to music nobody but the band knows. What can your band offer in a live setting that people will remember?
We promise soaring choruses and tight riffs every single time. We are all music nerds so we personally don't mind if bands just stand and play. A lot of the time the music we like is too intricate to shred and move around constantly, so a balance has to be found. If the music is good enough, the passion will speak for itself without having to act crazy on stage.
11. What releases have you put out , When will we see something new?
We just released our newest track "Loaded" along with a music video. We're definitely looking forward to having a full album released by April!

Why do you think this is so important? Doesn't it seem like everyone is giving everything out for free?
I think putting your music on as many platforms as possible is pretty important.
A lot of important people are searching these random sites for hidden talent. You never know when it could be your chance to shine. Just be sure you have your copyrights and you're golden!
14.Best moment of your career so far?
Every moment we spend together is the best moment so far. The milestones are great, but the moments we have together are absolutely priceless.

We love you and we're depressed too.
