Omega Diatribe Interview

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Hajer: The band has been founded by me and my friend and also the bass player Ákos Szathmáry. We have a couple of member changes... Actually none of our record contains the same line-up, haha.

It's hard to find those poeple who can put a lot into the band for many years, you know. But we still do it with Ákos, and the current line-up is the strongest so far, so we're looking forward what the future will bring.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Akos: We always want to create something unique, so is with the name. Not just pick a world and use it as it is.

The basic idea came from the Star Trek series. But we did not want to use such an unequivocal thing, so we changed one word in it. Unfortunately it was just words that have a good sounding, but no real meaning. So one crazy night I came up with a story that made it significant.
Ever since OMEGA DIATRIBE is: There’s a secret ancient writing stem from an unknown alien civilization, a contract between Humans and Aliens about the use of the planet Earth. The government calls it „Omega Diatribe”. This contract says Humans could only use the Earth in a limited time. Overtime is not allowed. When our time is over they’ll come back and take us to a higher level planet. Only the open minded people could survive the transmission, 'cuz their mind can undergo the changes of the human body.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Hajer: The band based in Budapest, which is the capital city of Hungary. Our singer lives in Székesfehérvár which is really close to Budapest, so it's no problem to manage the rehearsals and tours.

We have a quite strong scene here. A lot of awesome bands who deserves more attention. For example Apey & The Pea, who also do their thing more than 10+ years and people starting to recognize them by the past years and they get knowned by the mainstream audience as well. They're good friends of us! Another example is Vendetta Inc, or Stabbed. They're both of really talented bands... Check them out!

4. How would you describe your style?

Hajer: We describe our style as "extreme groove metal". Extreme: because we work with such interesting patterns, called polyrhythms, and Groove: because we make your neck moving with massive grooves, the Metal is speaks for itself. Most of the people called our style "Djent", but we're not familiar with this word... We don't get it. It's just simple 90's style crushing metal music with interesting rhythm patterns.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Tamás: Now we released 3 albums. The first was Iapetus, the second is Abstract Ritual, and now the newest is Trinity which has been released at the spring of 2018. I think our fans are expecting from us quality music and sound. And we believe in this, so we would like to do anything for this.

Hajer: Right. We also released a single along a cover of People = Shit by Slipknot in 2016, 'cuz we won some studio time in the most famous Hungarian Studio, Super Size Recordings here in Budapest.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Hajer: We have a shitloads of new ideas and pre-productions for new songs, but now we would like to focus our live shows and to promote our latest record 'Trinity'. But next year we will definitely came up with something fresh.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Fortunately we have a lot of concert in the future. In summer we are going to play some very good festivals in Hungary which is great for us, because Omega Diatribe live performance is very strong. At this time for the autumn we have now 16 dates but this number will be growing. And the great news it's we have an EU tour at the second half of the year.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We would like to play a bunch of shows in the future, and make great stuffs for our fans. Music is our life so we can't live without this. It's not an easy situation because this style of music  not too mainstream , but we don't give up and we are going to ahead.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Hajer: You can support us directly through our BandCamp site: http://omegadiatribe.bandcamp.com, or you can visit our webpage too: http://omegadiatribe.com

If you're more familiar with the common way of ordering, head over to our label: http://www.metalscraprecords.com/, or any online music stores

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Tamás: For the first time I heard Molecular Torsion from the band and it was absolutely shocking. From the first album, this song is the most admissible I think. I actually love that the songs doesn't have a simple structure, all the time they are changing. I love this aspect like a listener or a musician.
