"Divine Era's music is strongly influenced by Pantera and old Machine Head. This newest album, "Scripture Codes Summon Suicidal Thoughts," definitely has that old school heavy metal vibe. I sing and scream throughout the groovy riffs entwine with calculated drum patterns.

I love playing guitar solos. You will hear plenty on this LP. I’m not much of a shredder. I do my own thing with feel and a lot of chicken picking. My main personal influences are Dimebag Darrell, SRV and Zakk Wylde.
The main focus is to not only write groovy songs that make people move, but to compose different sounding songs; each with its own color making them all easily identifiable.

I’m very happy with how this album came out and hope you enjoy listening as well." - Divine Era

Hailing from the streets of Los Angeles, one man groove metal project DIVINE ERA fuses driving, groove oriented riffing with bluesy, melodic soloing courtesy of its sole member, Japanese singer/guitarist Daisuke Wachi, who over the years has played guitar alongside Kalen Chase (VIMIC) and Aaron Nordstrom (GEMINI SYNDROME) in THE CHANGING, and replaced none other than Jake E. Lee (OZZY OSBOURNE) in MANDY LION’S WWIII.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Divine Era was originally formed in Tokyo, Japan by my brother, friend and myself as a three-piece power trio back in 2003.  At that time, we were playing more progressive music.  I came to Los Angeles in 2004 by myself and continued Divine Era while adapting a groove-oriented style.  I found it difficult to keep consistent members, yet still managed to release two full-length albums and one single: “The Sound of Words” in 2007 featuring drummer, Pepe Clarke (Kyng and ex-Ankla), “Dead End City” in 2012 featuring drummer, Kyle Mayer (10 Years) and the single “Vanity of Vanities” featuring drummer, Kevin Talley (Dying Fetus and Suffocation).
In 2016, I became a solo artist.  It was a hard decision to make, but doing things that way I could more easily move forward.
In 2018, I released my third full-length album, “Scripture Codes Summon Suicidal Thoughts.”

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

I love the album “Divine Intervention” by Slayer.  I didn’t know what “divine” meant at the time.  I loved the sound of that word, but wanted to add one more to complete the name.  I was walking around Tokyo and saw a club named “Era.”  I checked the dictionary and the combination made sense.  The band name was complete.  There is no deeper meaning.
“Divine Era” is certainly not a Christian band.  “Divine Error” may have been much cooler, but now it’s too late.

 3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

I have been living in Los Angeles for a long time.  I've seen many bands form, some still going, some have ended, some have gone on to be successful.

Currently in LA, Delphian is a modern, old school death metal band.  The screaming and riffage from this band is untouchable.  Unfortunately, they haven’t released an album yet, but it is coming later in 2018.  I highly recommend checking them out.

Voices of Ruin is a melodic death metal band.  I played with them recently.  They put on a great show.  I got home later that night, checked out their album and was very impressed.

Zombie Eating Horse…I think I can call them groove metal?  I played with them and loved their set.

Grand Lord High Master has a very interesting style, which is hard to categorize.  I played with them as well; thrash, punk, progressive all within one style of song writing.  They are really cool!

4. How would you describe your style?

Groove Metal.
Divine Era is definitely heavily influenced by Pantera; blues-based, catchy song writing, memorable riffs and ear bleeding guitar solos with a solid balance of screaming and singing.

 5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

I have released three full-length albums and one single: “The Sound of Words,” “Dead End City,” and the single “Vanity of Vanities,” which is included on my newest full-length, “Scripture Codes Summon Suicidal Thoughts.”  I recommend starting with my latest release, “Scripture Codes” and listening back from there.
I’m so proud of how the latest album came out.  Like I said above, the songs are catchy and memorable.  Divine Era is groove metal.  That’s my focus.
I’m also a massive fan of old school guitar solos with feel.  You will hear plenty.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

No.  I’m always writing, but right now, I’m promoting my latest, recent album, “Scripture Codes.”

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

My next confirmed LA dates are on July 12th at the Five Star Bar presented by Metal Assault and on Aug 18th at The Lexington presented by Church of the 8th Day.  I’m opening up for Royal Thunder at the August 18th show.  I’m a massive fan and very excited for this one.
As of yet, I don’t have any tour dates booked.  However, at some point in 2018 I will tour the US.  A west coast tour or something like that will take place at the very least.  These dates are being worked out now.  All dates will be posted online as soon as they are confirmed.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Completing a professional music video for the latest album followed by touring later this year.  Since this industry is moving at such a rapid pace, the next Divine Era release will more than likely be a four to five song EP.  I have yet to make solid demos or anything like that, but I always have plenty of riffs!!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Riffs.  Often I am humming Pantera and Slayer riffs without even knowing.  My goal is to have that same kind of impact on my listener.

Thank you very much for having me.
