Jutta: Velvet Viper is the follow up band of Zed Yago in 1990. I met Holger Marx some time ago, an outstanding guitar player and composer. From this time on we decided reform Velvet Viper. The line up: Holger Marx, Guitar, Ron Oberbandscheid, Bass, Micha Fromm, Drums and myself.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
Jutta: As I said before . After the split of my former creation Zed Yago, we went on with Velvet Viper. I am into fantasy literature so I found Velvet Viper cool to fit into my fantasy world.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
Jutta: I live in Hamburg and Holger, Ron and Micha live in Hannover. Hannover is Germanys Rock City because the well-known Scorpions are from Hannover About Hannover Holger may wanna tell a story? Holger: Hannover has quite a few cool metal bands like “The Hirsch Effekt” , “Human Fortess” or “Cripper”, and of course we have great guitarists like Michael Schenker, Uli John Roth and Herman Frank. Jutta: Based in Hamburg is our producer’s Band Gamma Ray. Kai Hansen is in this moment on a reunion world tour with his old band Helloween.
4. How would you describe your style? Jutta: We call it -dramatic metal- cause I am very inspired by classical music. Have a listen to the song Loherangrin-Lohengrin on the CD. It is based on Richard Wagners opera “Lohengrin”. To inspire me for my lyrics I love poetry, literature, legends, mythologies and last but not least fantasy. Holger: I think musically we are mainly influenced by classic 80ies Metal and hardrock from the 70ies. We spice that up with some classical or even oriental elements
5. Can you tell us a bit about your earlier albums? Jutta: Hardrock and metal started for me in 1985. First Album for Zed Yago “From The Twilight Zone” second Album “Pilgrimage” after the split first Velvet Viper,same name second “The 4th Quest for fantasy” after that a kind of solo release Jutta Weinhold, “To Be Or Not”. After that I took break with heavy music but still worked as a singer. In the new millennium first came Weinhold “From Heaven Thru The World To Hell” and second Weinhold “Below The Line” And 2018 the return of Velvet Viper “Respice Finem”.
6. When Velvet Viper went on break, what did you do for work? Jutta: I work in a music school leading a gospel-rock-choir. Together with Holger Marx we have a acoustic band named: Akustik Randale, we play songs out of the time, where all boys had long hair. The late 60. to early 70. From time to time I give vocal-workshops.
7. What prompted you to get the band back together? Jutta: Oh, the spirit and the time was right. Because with Holger I have a strong partner. I have a lot ideas for lyrics and Holger has many guitar riffs so we bring both together. Since I know Kai Hansen a long time, we both live in Hamburg, it was near to ask him to take over the production. He is a great musician and a very understanding guy. He knows what to do in metal music. We are very proud that he found the time to work with us, although the start of rehearsals for the Helloween world-tour needed his time too. Kai joined us in the rehearsing room to arrange the songs and then we had the final concepts for recording.
8. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out? Jutta: since the CD's release in March 2018 in Germany we play live and we are looking forward to keep on doing it. There is nothing what is more fun to do.
9. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
Jutta: Playing many gigs and work on new songs for another album.

What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time Jutta: We are not out to copy other bands. So take your time to get into our music.
