GET DEEP AND HARD WITH BRACKISH TIDE'S BASS THUMPER

1.Why Bass?

Why not bass? Actually, it just comes naturally to me. I play guitar and drums but there is just

something about bass and the low end that is just a part of me.

2.Do you think it is unfair or just lack of knowledge bass gets so little credit?

I think most bass players aren’t worried about credit. To be honest, though it’s a lack of

knowledge. One point that I didn’t even realize for a while that bass players are the main

songwriters for a lot of bands. Another thing people don’t understand, even some musicians, is

a bass player's job in a band is to tell the drummer what the guitar players are doing and help

guitar players understand what a drummer is doing.

3.What kind of bass do you use? Model, color, year, And why

Correction, basses. 1977 fretless Fender P-bass natural, this bass has become a part of me.

1997 5 string fretless Warwick Corvette Standard natural, tone. Two 2000’s? Spector Rex-5

one fretted & one fretless transparent black, they are beasts. 2014? Fernandes Tremor 5 Deluxe

custom fretless flat black metallic, it’s fun and great live. Year? BSX Allegro 5 string burgundy,

killer tone and a challenge but fun to play.

4.Tell us about your amplification

 My rig is an Alembic F1-X preamp, Crown power amp & 2 x 10” 1 x 18” cabinet.

5. With all of that being said do you feel tone is an important thing for bass?

I believe tone is the most important part, it must compliment the song and other instruments.

6.Do you prefer 5 strings over 4 string?

I prefer 5 strings for the extra flexibility and extra low tone.

7.Who is your favorite bassist?

I could never pick one. Here’s a brief list: Mike Dean of C.O.C, Cliff Burton, Billy Sheehan,

Steve Harris & Robert Trujillo.

8. Who is your least favorite bassist?

 Me!

9.Why do you think women seem to be attracted to playing bass?

 Because they are intelligent.

10. What bassist dead or alive would you like a private lesson with?

 Robert Trujillo

11. Bonus question

Bobby Doll , Nikki Sixx , Les Claypool , Billy Sheehan which is more ridiculous and why

That’s a tough one. Billy Sheehan’s playing is unreal, his speed and technique is perfection

however Les Claypool’s approach is completely unique with an amazingly effortless ability
