AxMinister The Crucible of Sin Album review by Allyson Kingsley music journalist with Metal Coffee

AxMinister
The Crucible of Sin
Album review by Allyson Kingsley music journalist with Metal Coffee
Hell yeah! I will always support the Canadian metal scene seeing as some of my ancestry hails from our northern neighbors. AxMinister is described as a theatrical thrash metal band from the Toronto area. They have just recently won the battle of the bands on Metal Devastation Radio and their EP, entitled The Crucible of Sin,  is available on Bandcamp.
The album opens with "Prey" and "Salvation" and sets about doing exactly what the band does best. The frantic riffs and furious drumming ensure that the album sets out to cause chaos from the very outset and still boasts the same high levels of energy that make thrash metal so appealing. As I delve deeper into the EP, AxMinister are sounding as though they could have come straight out of the Bay Area in the mid to late 1980s with their high velocity riffs and technical prowess. The vocals sore over the top brilliantly and toe the line between aggression and melody.
"The Trials of Hercules", aside from telling the mythological tale, is a screeching ride through a battle rhythm of thrash mixed with a bit of power metal. Pumps you up! We finalize the album with "Sanctum Equitus Mortis" which starts off slow before it bedazzled you all of a sudden with its melodic aggression.  Top notch percussion work throughout the album. We certainly look forward to hearing more as AxMinister hold the metal flame up high.
