“All Or Nothing” is our second EP after some time of lineup changes, now we are stable and settled, we thought it was about time to have something that represented the real sound of the band at this moment. It’s still Element X, it’s still what you heard in The Prologue (our first EP, 2015), but it has matured, it is a more grown up sound, more elaborated… but still simple straight-to-your-face sound that we enjoy. It is everything we had at the moment of the recording, it was the perfect representation… but now we are already working on new material, a new single prepared for soon… we just can’t stop and enjoy it!
2.Where was it recorded? Is all the material new?
It was recorded at Red Lake Sound Studios in Port Laoise and mixed by Gavin Doyle from Symmetry Industry Studios https://www.symmetryindustry.com/ He also did the artwork of the album, sound lad and great professional.
3.What is the biggest difference between your last release and the new one?
We’ve been through some line-up changes in the band since, couple of lead guitar changes, bass player changed… and the rest of us have grown up in sound, matured and experienced musically. So like a normal life, it’s the same, you can still see the same band, but more adult. It is more powerful, it is more complex, it is more elaborated, it has more strength, more riffs, more elements to the Element X mix.
4.Are you signed to a label? If so which one and how did they help or support the process?
Unfortunately we are not… still on the hunt. Anyone out there? Contact us at info@elementx.ie ;)
5.What has been going on with the band between albums and releases? Did you tour?
We never stop working on new material and playing as much as we can.
6.Do you have any new members?
We went through a period that we felt unlucky with some changes in the lead guitar specially, all of them in good terms, just life getting in the way, the same with the bass player position, that Sean left to pursue a new life in a smaller island (Malta) but we got a good friend, Hugo, to cover that up. But we don’t call them “new members” anymore… they are just interns *laughs*
7.Who produced the new record and how did they effect it?
As we don’t have a producer per se, we are all in the band the producers of it. Everyone has a voice in the band and that’s how we improve, listening and trying. The drummer can give opinions on the lead guitar as the bass player can give an opinion on the voice, sometimes things work, others not and others just led to a better idea altogether. Also, we had a bit of help of Gavin Doyle (Symmetry Industry Studios) in who we trust and we listen to to get the most of it.
8.Some like to record naked or in the dark with candles…. Did you have any strange studio practices?
While most people like to be alone when recording, we agreed to be always, or as much as possible, all there, all the time, to support each other and live as much as possible the studio vibe as a band rather than musicians playing their parts.
9.Of course tell us where to pick up your record and how to learn more about you.
“All Or Nothing” is available now on all streaming platforms and to download too. You can find it (and us!) on Spotify, Amazon Music, iTunes/Apple Music, Soundcloud, Tidal… even Napster! I know, feels soooooo 90s!
And to know more about us, about the band, check out our official website elementx.ie and from there you have links to follow us on social media (instagram @element_x_official, facebook at ElementXOfficial, twitter @ElementXMusic or youtube at ElementXRock just to mention the main ones) where we keep quite active always sharing insides of the band, next gigs or any stuff going on with the band.
10.What are your plans for the release?
Get it to reach every single corner of the world, every speaker we can reach, no matter if is a phone, earphone or the biggest club in the city. We are trying to promote it as much as we can, sending it everywhere, and trying to play as much as the world let us make Element X be heard.
