1.Introduce yourself and your band and tell us why we should listen to you.
Masha answers:
Masha "Jesus" Balyasova — Vocals
Tim "Tul" Jabbarov — Guitars
Wally Youshkevich — Bass
Nikita "Nek" Ladygin — Drums
2.What do you classify your sound as, Who do you tell people you sound like?
We are metal-band with brutal screams and groovy riffs and we're ready to blow up the stage! Feel us, hear us, breathe us.
2. Tim: We classify our sound as groove metal or just metal, because it's not that important, as some fans of hashtags think 😆. And if you want to figure out who do we sound like, it's better to listen yourself, everyone have his own opinion after all
3. Tim: It should be both, no need to be limited with just one option. Some stuff i better listen to on my phone, and some other i want to collect dust on my shelf 😆
4. Masha: Just love it with all our hearts.
5. Tim: Now females in metal is quite common, so it's just natural, guys interested in girls, right? 😆
3.With digital music in today's world would you vote to keep or eliminate physical media?
Tim: It should be both, no need to be limited with just one option. Some stuff i better listen to on my phone, and some other i want to collect dust on my shelf 😆
4.What is the reason you decided to be a musician and has that reason paid off?
5.How do you feel about females in metal getting special attention? Do you feel it is fair?
Masha: I think music must be first, and voice tembers are important part of this. Whole my live when i think about hashtag #femalefronted I think more about females vocal tembers. Can't remember guy who sing soprano, am I right? Sure a lot of people can say "Oh fuck dat's all about her tits", but as person who grown without internet in post-USSR country where i got only headphones and player, I can say I never thought about tits of Tarja Turunen just like i never thought about tits of Till Lindemann. All is equal :) If you accociate female-fronted bands with tits and not with female voices (what sounds different than male for sure) i think problem in you.
6.In the world climate with hatred being at an all time high and metal being an “ angry” music Do you think your music contributes to anger and hatred?
Tim: Heavy and agressive music helps to release a lot of mental and physical tension, no matter if you listen to it on your device or being in moshpit. Music or pc games or whatever does not contribute to anger and haterd, people do.
7.Are you opposed to religious beliefs or politics being used in music?
7. Tim: It's up to musician which topic he wants to sing about, so if it is important for creator, so why not
8. Tim: Every listener can find something personal in every song, so even if you can't understand lyrics, for example, you can be affected somehow.
Masha: I do a lot of massages i lyrics but I try to make the meaning unobvious. Not everywhere but in most of it. I do this especially in political lyrics. Maybe you know but i want to tell you about russian police who arest people for memes about politics and religion. :) That's true and this is second reason why do you need to guess what the song is about politics what is not :D First one is simple: i think our listeners are not so silly and if they will read the words they will solve the riddle.
8.We have dive into some pretty deep issues here do you think your music sends a message and if so what is it?
Tim: Every listener can find something personal in every song, so even if you can't understand lyrics, for example, you can be affected somehow.
9.The market has changed and many bands believe that record labels are a thing of the past, with many labels now charging bands to “sign” how do you think a band can make it in todays scene?
Tim: This questions should be directed to bigger bands, but now it's really cool to be listened and featured in a lot of places around the globe. Every band can "make it", if they really want to and work
hard, like really hard. It's general rule nowadays, you can't be successful for real and do nothing for it.
10.Why with the thousands of options including netflix , sporting events everything on demand Why do you think people should take the time to listen to what you have to say in your music?
Tim: If you into music, it's just natural to search for new bands. So if first impression was positive, why not to check it out closer. But its kinda weird question tbh
Dude, we live in small Russian village and I know about what's going with Netflix only as "They did a lot of TV series" and South Park laughed at this :)
11.How do you feel about pay to play? Do you think it is fair for a band to have to pay money to play?
Tim: You mean like support acts? If so, its like an advertising yourself, unfortunately it's huge luck to find something like promotion for free
Masha: I think it's okay. This is promo-slots and chance to share your stuff in live for fans of ANOTHER band. Not yours. This is so awesome if some manager or band belive in you and love you enough for do it as a gift, but this is will be than very important gift.
12.It is fact that you are the talent and the entertainment explain what you think is the most important key to success? Tim: Hard work of everyone in the band, without it any talent, contract with major label etc will be in vain
13.In country music and even in some cases rock music is written and performed by different people would your band perform a song written by someone else? Tim: It will not display our essence, i think, so no. But sometimes it's really fun to play some covers to bands we love, so it's the only option for stuff like this
14.If you are pro female in music are you pro using sex to sell your music?
Masha: such a fun question. What do you mean as sex? Naked tits? It don't work anyway with shitty music. Weared titts? If ppl love your music they will undress it in their imagimation anyway. if they want, they will think about you as about sex object anyway. If i have big titts i will not hide it anyway, and if i will play in any hot stage i will take of the t-shirt and will not care about will it looks like sexy pr or not. If I'm seems sexual for someone - ok, if not - ok. If singer girl or guy (but we talk about girls right?) want to play in sexy clothes this is their own deal. And i will repeat, it don't work without good music anyway
15.What is your view on the lawsuits against people saying lewd or unprofessional things to women or men and how does that affect an art described as sex drugs and rock n roll ?
Tim: People should be more simple and kind to each other. Everyone makes mistakes, so where's no big reason to overreact (despite being an asshole xDDD)
16. Ok lets lighten up a bit. What is your favorite band of all time and why?
Tim: i dont have exact one band, i think it's natural to things like this change over time. But my longest fav band is Everytime i die, they are just awesome in every way for me
17.What would you be doing if you were not in a band?
Tim: i would be a bedroom player doing some boring dayjob, but eventually joining some band in the future 😆
18. Do you have a favorite sports team?
Tim: nope
Masha: same shit
19.If you could get on stage with anyone dead or alive who would it be?
Tim: Where is so much great musicians i admire a lot, but guitarwise it would be my dream to play with Dimebag and Gary Holt, bandwise i'm dying to play a song with ETID
Masha: Massive Attack bacause their music is so different and i love all this "dark vibes". Pink Floyd for their deep, love Portishead for their sensetive. A prefer energetic in music - don't care about genre actually.
Also we love Mastodon very much. They was like a big boom for our brains when we heared them once. We listened them very long time.
20.This is your shot to let loose, Throw down your biggest complaint about the music biz
Masha: sometimes you feel like you run circles becouse algorythmes of social media are changes you day by day here's less of organic shares, facebook and IG don't show you news of public pages, YouTube offer you to wath one vieo again and again becouse they just want to get some money from channeles for advertising. And you'r sitting day by day, talk to subs about upcoming tour what was announced it few posts back, stories and day by day you talk about this, and when you start to invite them personaly they answer "cool i didn't know!". How the fuck? Why when you hav 10 000 subs posts shares betwenn 3 000 and half of them it's just shares from reposts. This is my main trouble. And you need to work on tours, social media, content, music, management in complex. And that's all don't works without each other. And when you are small band you need to understand all this shit and money money money money money for all of this. Especially when you are located in far-far away asshole :)
