On the Sun-GRINDER CONTROVERCY INTERVIEW

1.Tell us in a few words why you think people should listen to you over the thousands of bands out there.  Cause we’re heavier than your momma and better looking, too.

2. Name 3 bands you think your music is comparable to

We sold our soul to sound like Sabbath, Kyuss and Zeppelin.

3.Tell us about your latest release, how do you describe it and where can we purchase it?

Straight up, we aimed to have every song on “Solar Savior” be an anthem.  The listener can judge the results. We wanted some stomp and some speed…like an elephant running across your spine. Start your journey with our space epic…”On the Sun.” The EP is available at iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp, CD Baby, Spotify, Target, etc. Check us out!!

4.Do you have any video’s and where can we see them? Do you think video’s are important any longer? We are way too ugly for videos. Just strap on some headphones and bong voyage!

5. As a PR agent I am going to tell you forthright, It is expensive to make it in the music industry and it is unfair because a lot of great talent gets left behind. How far are you willing to go? How much are you willing to lose to climb this mountain? We are going to make the best music we can, have a blast and ride this wave as long as we can.   Nothing to lose, everything to gain!

6.At one time you could believe that your music was enough , Your live show was enough. Now that you know the reality of the music business what would YOU change to make it more fair to the artist? We can only hope that people return their attention back to music and the almighty guitar!  They have fallen in love with their phones and apps and games. It’s their loss. God help those that forgot to rock!

7.Youve spent tons of money on gear , spent thousands of hours rehearsing and putting everything into your dream. What level of success will you consider “ making it”?

As long as we have enough money to record, tour and buy a carne asada burrito at Arturo’s Tacos in Chicago (Armitage and Western Avenues), then we are drinking straight from the Rock Goblet.

8. Have you been on the road? Would you like to tour? And with who?

We are excited to start touring in support of this new EP.  We want to melt some faces worldwide.

9.You get 5 members build your dream band and go.

Derek Ault-Singer

Matt Torossi-Drums

Fred Nettnin-Bass

Jay Septoski-Guitar

10.Who would you not throw under the bus for fame?

No comment…gotta keep you guessing. No one’s safe!  Haha.

11.Do you know about the business side of music? Do you think the business side or the entertainment side is more important?

Music is life….life is music….and then, there’s the biz nasties.

12.What is it about your live show that will make a person remember you?

Plant your feet and grab some air!  We want you in a puddle when we are done. We do an old school rock show with all the trimmings.

13.Your girlfriend , Your family , Your friends are all going to lie to you and tell you that you are awesome, its just how the game works. So who do you trust to tell you the truth?

We trust our ears and our hearts.  We put ourselves 100% into what we do…no regrets.

Love it or shove it.

14.What constitutes kicking a member out of a band?

Ain’t gonna find out. We’re having too much fun.

15.How do you feel about political beliefs inside the band? What if one of your members wanted to wear a pro trump shirt live? We all hate that orange beast. Fuck him and his flock. Don’t buy our music if that’s your scene. We have a lot to say about equality and fairness and we’ll rock punch any type of hate.

16. There are a number of bands and artist out there who are gay or lgbt,

Would you support one of your members changing gender?

We know people in the LGBTQ community. No judgment here. Live your life and don’t apologize for it.

17.Many people consider metal music and metal fans to be racist

Share your opinions, including would you allow racism in your band if the member was talented enough? Metal fans are the most welcoming, loyal and supportive people you will ever meet. They listen to music that many others look down on. They know what living in the musical margins looks like.

18.I am pushing boundres for a reason, rock n roll is rebellion sex and drugs but things have changed will you stay true to yourself even if it means leaving the band and giving up your dreams? Staying true to ourselves would never include giving up on our dreams.

19.Lets lighten up, If you could get on stage with any band who would it be?

We’d love to tour with Nebula and Pentagram!

20.I want you to say something you know will be controversial that you are willing to stand up for. That Motley Crue album without Vince Neil was pretty damn good!  Go John Corabi!
