Blackhearth INTERVIEW

1.What is the name of your band and how did you come up with it?
What is your name and what do you do for the band?

The name of the band is “blackhearth” and I came up with it while I was having a bath. My name is Alex and I am the guitarist and main composer of the band.

2.Tell us where you are based and describe the scene. How do you think where you are located influences your sound.

Born and raised in Basque County, a special place near the pyrenes, all surrounded by mountains and particular history, such as a bombardier that we suffered in 1936 due to the civil war. Not only our environment has influenced us in our music, but also that special clime we have here with all the rain and dark days

3.Who influences your sound that would surprise people?

I don’t think no one will be surprised with my influences; I listen to groups such as Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest… I also like bands like Opeth, Porcupine tree… and bands of similar style.

4.Are you endorsed by musical companies , if so who , and if not who would you like to be endorsed by?

In this first album we have worked with the label ROCK CD RECORDS. It has been an incredible experience but we are open to new propjets.

5.When you started what was your ultimate goal? And how close to the goal are you now?

I always wanted to record an album and get as much as I could from it. After getting that goal, the next step is to visit different countries and play concerts there

6.In today's digital environment it takes creative strategy to keep things moving. What creative ideas do you have to keep your band relevant over time?

Social media has become very important nowadays, you can be in touch with people all around the world, and that makes easier to show your music. We try to be updated showing our media 24/7.

7.We've all seen a terrible live band that is awesome on CD. Is that cool with you or do you lose respect for bands that cannot pull it off live?

I think all the bands have to conscious of their limits, and not recording things that cannot be played in live. Is better to know where your limits and aptitudes are and where you can reach. In our case the 100% of the album has been recorded by the group members for that reason there is no problem to come up with it in live.

8.Tell us your “core” are you Metal , Rock , Punk , Pop etc because people just have to categorize these days you know?

I hate “labels”, it’s really difficult to classify a band in a certain “core”. When people ask me I tell them we are in Heavy Metal. All the bands are supposed to have a core, I would say that we belong to Heavy Metal.

9.This is a tough question but a very real reality, Is your band actually talented or just popular?
Many bands make it with a cliche or publicity stunts etc. Would you accept fame even if it was just because of being the “ in” thing or is it actually important to you that you gain favor with talent?

We are a talented band, because all the band members are professional musicians, focused on what they want and how to get there. I prefer to be honest with the music I do, even if that means not being famous or an “in” group. We do it because we feel it like that. You can see that in our songs.

10.Tell us what to expect from you live. Nothing is more boring than watching bands stare at the floor and bob their heads to music nobody but the band knows. What can your band offer in a live setting that people will remember?

We are a non-stop band on the stage, we live every single concert as it was the last one and that makes our concerts unique and once in a lifetime. We just want people to have fun in our concerts, we will try to do the best we can and try to be unforgettable.

11. What releases have you put out , When will we see something new?

Right now we are focused in our first album, promoting it, playing concerts … even we are with the composition of new songs, is too soon to talk about a new album. Probably next year you could hear news about a new album, or not, who knows.

12. If you have videos where can we see them?

We have a couple of singles in Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/blackhearth.metal/) but wait for more in our social media.

13.Everybody has Bandcamp , ReverbNation , Soundcloud , etc
Why do you think this is so important? Doesn't it seem like everyone is giving everything out for free?

Not all the groups have the backup of a record label it support them. These tools help the musicians to show their music all around the world. in our case, this tools (BandCamp, Spotify, Itunes, …) have been very helpful at the time of broadcast our music

14.Best moment of your career so far?

Obviously this one. We have the best musicians so far and we are very happy with the album. We are getting really good critics, and we still have lot of good things to happen. There are still things to do and improve, I wish all this work has a reward

15.Your message to the fans?

Enjoy the album and stay heavy! Thanks for the support and see you on stage.

Bonus Question who do you bring back

Dime , Cliff , Dio , Lemmy , Randy

I would bring back Randy Rhoads because he died too soon he could show us all his skills. Every note served the song.
