Germany's Othuum presents their debut full-length, "The Astral Horror"; a doom metal effort with elements from classical metal and influenced by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, which is reflected in the overall concept of the album, including the titles, the layout and even the band's name.

With "The Astral Horror", the band's message is very simple: to create music they all enjoy listening to. To be artistically active without the need to preach anything and without portraying a deeper message. If anything, "The Astral Horror" is an invite to all the listeners to become aware of one's own insignificance and uselessness in the face of the immensity and complexity of the whole universe and what lies beyond.
OTHUUM was initially founded in 2016 as a nameless project. Already existing song ideas were worked out relatively quickly in cooperation with all members to finished songs and compositionally refined over time. At first the name 'VOID' was agreed upon. Two live appearances under this name were completed before the band concentrated on recording the songs in autumn 2017. Meanwhile
the name changed to OTHUUM, under which the first album 'The Astral Horror' was released early 2019. The style can be called Doom, especially because of the moderate tempo, although elements of classical Metal have certainly left their mark. The mood is gloomy and strongly influenced by works of H.P. Lovecraft, which is reflected in the layout, band name and titles, thus in the overall concept.
