DREAMS IN PERIL SPEAK

1.What is the name of your band and how did you come up with it? What is your name and what do you do for the band?

Answer: My name is Dalton Collins and I am the bass player of Dreams In Peril.

I came up with the idea of this name while I was at work one day.. We were just getting started as a band and everyone was kicking around potential names. We have all been in and out of the music scene for a long time. We all played shows together while we were in separate bands. We love doing what we do. But all of our past projects have all failed. Rather a member of our band's would flake off or someone would get mad at someone else or SOMETHING would happen to keep us down. We all felt like our Dreams Were in peril. The name can be taken in a literal sense or metaphorically. and we thought the name also fit our sound, with our raw metal sound and brutal breakdowns with some dream like reverb here and there.

2.Tell us where you are based and describe the scene. How do you think where you are located influences your sound.

Answer: We are located in The Kansas City, Ks. and Kansas City, Mo. Area. Our metal scene has had its ups and downs and changes throughout the years. from bands that are considered the elite and some who are just playing around. There has always been a very high competition feel in our scene from band to band. The music scene used to be more united but as the years went on, they all started competing with each other. Trying to get one over on all the other bands, Trying to make cliques and a circle of bands that they would always play with. Its just how it went.

Kansas City used to have a lot of festival type shows or "Wars" in which kinda pit all of us against each other for set times or even who got promoted more. over the span of time I started seeing the number of metal bands drop due to it just not being fun for people anymore because of the high competition. In recent years I have started seeing more metal bands come together again and our metal scene is starting to become a little more united again.

Our sound is defiantly Influenced by where we are. In Kansas City, There are two types of metal... Ones with breakdowns and ones with just straight blast beats and shred. and they used to not like each other... haha as a band, we try to blend both of them into one. "Deathcore" if you will.

3.Who influences your sound that would surprise people?

Answer: Josh (Guitars) likes different kinds of musicians that make movie sound tracks. LOL I walk into the practice space all the time where he is making all kinds of weird sounds with his pedals and guitar... haha

That would be the biggest one.

4.Are you endorsed by musical companies , if so who , and if not who would you like to be endorsed by?

Answer: Oh man... I wish! haha!!! it would make life a lot easier for sure! We would actually be able to push ourselves a lot harder and better if we had some backing... haha

We have reached out to some companies but so far haven't gotten much back.

Some of which we would like to have are PRS Guitars or ESP guitars or even Ibanez for both guitar and bass.

Ampeg and peavey amps

We would like to have a case Company for amps and cabs... Like Gator or HELL ANYTHING! to help with transporting road gear.

As for drums, Tama or Mapex... Sabian, or Zildjian...

We are also open minded as well...

5.When you started what was your ultimate goal? And how close to the goal are you now?

Answer: Our long term goal is to be on the road gigging from town to town, selling our merchandise, performing, making new fans. Selling our music on the road and online. Playing along side the bands that we love and Making what we do count and mean something.

So far... We have set short term goals and try to meet them step by step to reach our long term. We have already shared the stage with bands we love and grew up listening to.

We have been on some out of town gigs here and there and we are already selling our merchandise. We just need to do it more in depth and get on actual tours and large festivals around the nation to complete the big goal.

6.In today's digital environment it takes creative strategy to keep things moving. What creative ideas do you have to keep your band relevant over time?

Answer: Oh man... It just depends. Sometimes, its good to watch other bands... DO WHAT WORKS while still being true to who we are. We notice Visual and sound go well together, While it may be a lyric video, music video, photos.. whatever... Always keep catching not only their ears but their eyes as well.

7. We've all seen a terrible live band that is awesome on CD. Is that cool with you or do you lose respect for bands that cannot pull it off live?

Answer: It just depends.. Ya know, Some bands have really technical parts that keep them from moving around.. Which, if you are a musician.. You understand... We do have SOME technical parts but for the most part we like to groove and have our music with some sort of vibe or feel. So for us we feel in order to capture an audience, Ya gotta move! Jump, Get low and headbang, Run around, Engage with your audience! Make eye contact, mouth the words.. INTERACT with them!

8.Tell us your “core” are you Metal , Rock , Punk , Pop etc because people just have to categorize these days you know?

Answer: At our core.. We are Metal! but we add some hardcore breakdowns and Reverb ambiance that gives us that DREAMS IN PERIL sound. haha if you are to call us the correct sub Genre. we are DEATHCORE! lol

9.This is a tough question but a very real reality, Is your band actually talented or just popular? Many bands make it with a cliche or publicity stunts etc. Would you accept fame even if it was just because of being the “ in” thing or is it actually important to you that you gain favor with talent?

Answer: I think its talent.. Honestly, We were never in the "IN" crowd before this band... thats why our name is Dreams In Peril. Somewhere along the line.. We got noticed within our scene by coming out swinging like no other band has in our scene... and now its time for us to conquer our region and then the nation...

10.Tell us what to expect from you live. Nothing is more boring than watching bands stare at the floor and bob their heads to music nobody but the band knows. What can your band offer in a live setting that people will remember?

Answer: WE HAVE ENERGY! haha... We do not stand in one spot and bob our heads.. We move! and actually.. this is why we became wireless! A investment that we made shortly after forming this band. Me and the guitar player will switch back and fourth, our vocalist is a live wire on stage... We head bang with intensity. we interact and if the stage and venue is workable to do so... We sometimes come out to the crowd and throw down with them... They are one of us! WE ARE ALL DREAMERS!

11. What releases have you put out , When will we see something new?

Answer: We JUST put out our first album Mephobia! It is brand spanking new! lol! it is now on iTunes, Amazon music, google play, Spotify... Hell, you name it and we are probably there! But... We are actually already working on the next album now.. AND we just put this one out.. so... We will see. haha

12. If you have videos where can we see them?

Answer: We have videos on Youtube, on our Facebook page... we aren't hard to find.

13.Everybody has Bandcamp , ReverbNation , Soundcloud , etc Why do you think this is so important? Doesn't it seem like everyone is giving everything out for free?

Answer: Depends on the band... We all have these platforms to further our own reach. A wise older local musician once told me... ALWAYS WHORE YOUR MUSIC OUT EVERYWHERE! which means, in as many places as possible. and in these platforms. its not free unless you make it free. If you notice on our reverbnation that our music is only available for streaming... Sure... you can listen to us... but you can't OWN it, you can't put it on your phone or laptop. You will need to buy the album on itunes for that.

14.Best moment of your career so far?

Answer: This is a hard one... I would have to say when we played on The Summer Slaughter tour. We got to play in the environment that we have always wanted. It was such an amazing feeling sharing the stage with all those awesome bands and that atmosphere! We would love to do it again!

15.Your message to the fans?

Answer: We are humble guys, We love this industry, We love playing music, we love making music! Nothing makes us happier than seeing someone enjoy what we create.

That's what this is all about!

If you find that you enjoy what we do, if we motivate you, excite you or move you... Come see us! Throw down with us! Keep our Dreams.. and yours.. Alive!

Bonus Question who do you bring back Dime , Cliff , Dio , Lemmy , Randy

Answer: Dude, Dime!!! You can not go wrong with Dime! haha
