Interview As Within So Without: Metal Moose

The Metal Moose Interview
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Lukas Vitullo: As Within, So Without was formed by Mitchell Lustosa (vocals) and Mathew Lustosa (bass/vocals) in 2014 under a different name. I joined the band in 2015, we didn’t become serious about this until late summer of 2016 after a member change and that’s when we started writing for our debut EP “Our Self Destruction”. We released “Earth Mover” as our first single in April on Earth Day. We then began playing shows and in the summer of 2017 we released our first EP. Fast forward to March 5th 2019 our new album “Into Oblivion” is out on all platforms and we have been extremely busy planning the biggest year for our band!

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Lukas Vitullo: The name came from the bands former guitarist, I’m not sure where he got it from.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Lukas Vitullo: The band is sort of split between NY and CT but the bands “home turf” so to speak is New York. Me and our guitarist Mike live a block away from each other, Mitchell and Mathew are from Stamford, CT and our other guitarist Matt is from Hamden, CT.

4. How would you describe your style?

Lukas Vitullo: We are a traditional metalcore band who has many influences in Metal and outside of it as well.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Lukas Vitullo: We currently have an EP out called “Our Self Destruction” that we dropped in 2017, and our newest album “Into Oblivion” which came out on March 5th. We have music videos out for Anchor and Departure from our new album. Something someone can expect from our music is that we will always write about personal experiences or feelings toward anything, and that you won’t hear the same thing twice from us.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Lukas Vitullo: It is a passion of ours to create new music, so yes. But don’t expect anything soon because we just dropped our new album!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Lukas Vitullo: We have been playing shows very often all across the North East since 2017 with some of our favorite bands. We are currently working on a run but I can’t say much more about the topic.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Lukas Vitullo: We have most of our 2019 planned out, mostly things I can’t talk but I am stoked for the future. My biggest goal is to have a busy tour schedule of 6 months out of the year. But that wont happen for a little while.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Lukas Vitullo: Our entire discography should be available on all online platforms for music. Our merch site is: https://awswband.bigcartel.com

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Lukas Vitullo: We are just huge fans of music, and we are always open to connecting and talking to our fans/supporters. We all go through rough patches and it’s okay to not be okay. Essentially that is what our new album is about collectively. Thank you for reading and giving me your attention!
