Alice Sweet Alice - INTERVIEW ANSWERS!

1. Please tell us about the about the band and its members.

Alice Sweet Alice is female-fronted alt rock with teeth- or at least, that's what we call ourselves! We're a 5-piece band featuring Liza Jean on vocals, Scott Martinez on bass, Shadron Dennis on guitar, Theo Wren on keys/violin/backup vocals, and Brian Kline on drums. We're a 6-piece if you count Chico, the band mascot.

2. Who does the majority of the writing? Is it a group thing or does someone handle the writing duties?

We all tend to pitch in! Writing songs is a very collaborative effort- one weekend Shad might come in with a lick we jam on, the next weekend Liza or Theo might have some lyrics and a melody we work around. We're very big on throwing a lot around and seeing what sticks!

3. Where is the band based out of ? Where did you want to the band to end up? What was the dream city to have as your home base once you got out of your scene?

We're based out of Kansas City, MO! Right now, we're just focused on making killer music that we love and sharing it with as many people as we possibly can. I don't think we've ever set our sights on a 'dream city' because Kansas City is pretty doggone great!

4. What is your genre? What bands do you use to explain to people what you sound like?

While we classify ourselves primarily as female-fronted alt-rock (with teeth, haha), we tend to bounce around a lot. All of us have different bands that influence our writing and those influences make their way into our songs. There's bits of synth, trip-hop, classic rock, funk, metal, etc.

5. Can we buy anything from you Cd's shirts etc and where can we buy them?

You sure can! www.alicesweetalice.com/merch is where you can find all the ASA goodies your heart desires!

6. Do you have studio time lined up anything new coming soon?

We are super lucky to have a bandmate who runs his own recording studio. When songwriting season starts, we just start recording when we have something we think is really solid, and we keep refining it. We're working on our next album right now, and we have the best problem of having too many ideas! It's going to be hard trying to decide what to keep and what to save for later. But let's just say this next album is going to be a lot more.. gothic and spooky.

7. Have you ever been on tour? If so where and with who?

In our current lineup, the most touring we've done is weekend warrior touring up to Iowa and Illinois. A more extended tour is something we'd all like to do if the right opportunity arises, though!

8. What is your favorite band? Who are the bands who influenced you?

While we all have our own major influences, some of mine include Halestorm, Icon for Hire, New Years Day, and The Pretty Reckless.

9. Do you have a website? And do I have to verify that I am 18 to enter it?

We do have a website, www.alicesweetalice.com, and you can join at any age! You can also find us on just about every streaming platform, as well as Instagram, Twitter, and Youtube.

10. What about your music do you want people to remember? What is the quality you want to hit people when they hit play?

I want people to feel something. I want our music to resonate with them. I want them to be able to relate and see and feel themselves in the songs we put out. I also want to amp people up- get 'em moving!

11. Name a person who is integral to your band that nobody knows about , what person drives your band like they are part of the band? Who is the extra member ?

The not-a-member member? Oh, Chico for sure. That little dog provides way more entertainment than is really reasonable. Between his slam-dancing during songs to desperately cuddling up to anyone who will give him attention, he keeps us laughing and from taking things too seriously.

12. Tell nerds like me tell us about your live rig and equipment.

Well there's pedal boards and drums and a keyboard... I have a microphone (it's a CAD). I just stand where they tell me to stand and sing what I'm supposed to sing...

13.What is your musical guilty pleasure that you are ashamed of?

I really like mainstream hooky pop music. It's catchy, I can dance to it, and I'm a sucker for synths.

14.If you could custom build a band who would be the members?

Why would I custom build a band when this one's so great? Hahahaha... bad jokes aside though, I really have no idea.

15.Message to the fans? What is it?

Never settle for less. Feed your passions. Whatever you're going through, you are not alone.

16.If you could bring back one metal legend who would it be?

I really have no idea. I mean, they aren't dead but I'd love it if Saviour Machine released a new album because it'd be amazing.

17. Who in the band has the stinkiest feet?

Ha, probably Shad or Brian.

18. What is the worst album by your favorite band?

I don't think I have one. I try to find things to like in everything.

19. How do you think your band will break up?

Chico's probably going to eat someone and the grief will tear us apart. That little dog may look cute and cuddly, but there's probably some part of that brain that remembers he was a wolf, in some distant past life... like how cats haven't forgotten they were worshipped as gods. It's gonna be that dog, I tell ya.

20.Last but not least , Zepplin or The Who

Hmmmmmmmm Zeppelin.
