1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
We started off just 3 of us jamming in a practice room for a laugh. That was me (Paddy), Dave and Rod Coleman (our previous drummer). We asked around for a bass player and vocalist and Rod got recommended Baz who was a mutual friend of his at Nottingham Panthers ice hockey games. Baz took on bass and vocal duties and it just took off from there. We started getting better and better and gigging and refining our sound. We entered Bloodstock metal 2 the masses and met loads of fantastic bands. On the second attempt we actually won and got to play Bloodstock festival. Since then we have played Download and Hammerfest festivals . The only other change was when Rod retired and Ste Dudley stepped in. We all knew Ste from his band Incinery who we had played with many times.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
I remember coming up with 3 or 4 names and Line Of Fire was one of them. I can't remember the other choices but we all agreed Line Of Fire was best for now. Almost like a temporary name that ended up sticking. I quite like how it can have multiple interpretations. A literal line of fire for example, I knd of like the idea of us playing with a massive line of fire behind us. We can all dream eh?
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are
there any local bands you could recommend?
We are based in Nottingham and Derby and the scene is absolutely top quality and heaving with excellent bands. (please tell me if I miss anyone guys) The bands we did our album launch with are superb in Obey (from Stoke) and Master Charger (Notts). Lot's of different genres but thrash we have Incinery, Forgotten Remains,Lawnmower Death (can I put that in hahaha?). Then everything from blues rock to black metal we have Witch Tripper,These Wicked Rivers,Evil Scarecrow, The Five Hundred,Taken by the tide, Abomination Federation, Hung Daddy, Doomsday Outlaw, 28 Double, Firebomb, The Crimson Brigade, Beckon Lane, Raised by owls.
4. How would you describe your style?
This is a hard one as we don't really fall into any category. We quite like Groove metal that seems to sum up our sound the best. If you haven't heard us please have a listen and make your own mind up. We all bring different influences to the band but the main ones that influence our sound I think are King's X, Metallica, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Down, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, AC/DC I could go on forever.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your
works?
We have released so far 3 ep's, a single and we have just released our full debut album 'Nothing in my way'. This is available from our bandcamp page here https://lineoffireuk.bandcamp.com/album/nothing-in-my-way. You can expect big heavy riffs, bluesy licks, a thunderous rhythm section and catchy hooks.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Oh yeah we always have new music in the works. Nothing complete yet but plenty of ideas. The hard part is making them into good catchy Line Of Fire songs. To be honest it takes us a while and even when a song is written we will gig it once or twice and keep evolving the song. People who come to see us and we announce we are playing a new song, you may never hear that song that way again.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We are playing at the Hexx all dayer at The Old Salutation Inn, Nottingham on October 20th. Joining us are Mage, Master Charger, Witch Tripper and many more. Here is the link to the event https://www.facebook.com/events/651416565249923/
Nothing else confirmed yet but we are working on more dates. We tend to play weekend dates rather than a full tour as we all work during the day.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
We are looking forward to playing these song's off the album live. Line of fire is us four guy's having fun and we will never lose that. It makes it even more enjoyable when fans also join in having fun whether it's singing along, moshing, dancing, headbanging or just clapping along. You can do all that at a Line of fire show. Also looking forward to finishing some new songs and ultimately releasing a second album.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
I would most like a listener to remember the most upon hearing us for the first time is whatever is special to them. Whether that is a guitar riff, a vocal hook, a thundering bass line, a blistering drum fill or even the main melody line. We are quite proud that people come to a gig for the first time and by the end of the song they are singing along with us. It's that tune that you take home after the gig and can't get out of your head, we love it. That gives us the most pleasure. Thanks for letting me waffle and all the best for the future.
