RavenSkül Interview

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

RavenSkül was started by myself on Jan 1 2017 on board the USS Makin Island, I am currently and active duty Naval Chief, long time musician, played in a couple punk and metal bands when I was younger, before the Military.Currently stationed in Spain, I turned my office on the flight deck into a recording studio, with nothing more than a computer, a bass, a guitar and some computer programs.  I am the only member of the band, I write, play, record and produce evrything myself, all artwork or graphics are done by me and manage and promote what little I can myself.  I am a Norwegian American born in Hollywood, CA.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The band name originated from my love of ravens and skulls really, I have 2 full Nordic sleeve tattoo's depicting both Norse paganism, loki's children and of course a raven and skulls.

 3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

I currently write and record in a studio a built in my house in Spain. My weapons of choice are Ibanez for bass and guitar, I also have a vintage Gibson bass, and Fender and Ampeg amps.

4. How would you describe your style?

I would describe my style as Heathencore Metal, I write about Viking and Celtic History as well as some other things Pagan related, I tell stories.

 5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

I am curently releasing a self titled album RavenSkül, and recently released an interpretive metal instrumental cover album on iTunes and else where, Spotify, BandCamp, etc... called Caught In The Mosh.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

I also currently have a Interpretive cover In the Air Tonight, I was nominated by Akademia for best Heavy Metal Song April 2018 ans is also available everywhere, and a few other albums from when I first started that I am in the process of re-mastering.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

I am not currently playing live or will be anytime soon, as I am just a single member band, and prefer it that way.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

I will continue to write, record and produce as long as it's in my blood. And I think I would just like listeners to appreciate the History that is so often forgotten, well for us Scandanavian's and Pagan's out there.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff? not answered

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Also to appreciate the raw energy and power in my guitar style and drums I produce, I WANT THE WORLD TO MOSH..........
