Bofo KWO interview

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The Idea was born in 2014 when Ted Egger met up with artist/illustrator Richard Hadfield about making illustrations for a Novel written by Ted called "The Legend of a Cannibal King".

Then the idea to create a Metal band with a concept based on the Novel was presented to Kimmo Lindholm and Janne Winther shortly after. Kimmo and Ted started to work on the first single which was done in 2014 and released via Amnezia Music Management. It also ended up on two compilations and was picked up by the Metal Moose's special Thanksgiving TURKEY podcast.

Through 2014 to 2016 Kimmo, Ted and Janne worked on the first EP with 5 tracks. The EP was ready in December 2016 but was not released until the summer of 2017. By that time Bofo Kwo had recorded two music videos, one lyric and one full music video for the Black Metal cover of The Smashing Pumpkins "Bullet with butterfly wings".

Finally in the spring 2018 made a promotion deal with Metal Coffee promotions and now the singles and videos are in rotation of many radio stations, youtube and Spotify list.

All songs are written, recorded and produced by Kimmo Lindholm and Ted Egger. Most artwork is done by Kimmo Lindholm but there will be both past and future artwork made by Richard Hadfield. The story is a mix of tribe cannibalism and Science Fiction as Bofo Kwo and his tribe travels to different worlds than our own after leaving ours in death and madness...

The Band members are based on characters in the novel and all three band members has their own origin story on the first  EP.

Enduring the Smell of burning Flesh: The story of the beginning and the Cannibal King called Bofo Kwo (Ted Egger) - A story about the leader of the Pack.

Son of Hatred: The Story of Wamufo (Kimmo Lindholm) one of the Albino twins that was abandon by their family and taken in by the Cannibal King to join the adventure.

Black Unicorn: The Story about Bomari (Janne Winther) the female twin sister of Wamufo who also taken in by the Cannibal King.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The band name is taken from the Main character of the Novel by Ted Egger called "A Legend of a Cannibal King". The names are taken from real life Cannibals that actually was still alive in the year 2014 in a part of the world we call Papua New Guinea, he lived in the Djungle with his tribe members Bomari and Wamufo.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We’re based out in Helsinki, Finland and the metal scene here is vibrant and active, though if more venues are able to host a good metal shows would be nice. With the worlds largest metal to people -ratio theres literally a metal band for everyone. There’s probably a band that sounds exactly like lil’Pump molesting Justin Bieber loading their 4x12 Marshalls into a van right now.
I’d recommend people to check out Oranssi Pazuzu, Dark Budha Rising, Convocation and MUSTA PAAVI.


4. How would you describe your style?
Symphonic Black Metal with influences of Rock and Grunge and a weird mix of avantgarde composers, noise and other all around weirdos. - Wamufo

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

EP 2017 - The Legend of a Cannibal King

Normally you should expect something sweet, something dark, something creepy and a vast sense of melancholy.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes, a new Animated Lyric video for "Enduring the Smell..." will be ready in the summer, then we are working on 2 singles set to release fall 2018, Plate of Hate & Second Sun

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Bofo Kwo Live performances starts next year and dates will be announced in November or December 2018.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
We will start performing live, work on new releases and develop our material further. We also have some exciting news that will be announced June 13 2018. then of course we will always create controversy and world domination obviously. In chaos and Extreme fantasy we grow!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
The combination of the arrangements and the story told in the lyrics. Then the emotions and atmosphere is important both live and on recordings..
