VINTERSEA, Regarding the upcoming Summer Prognosis 2018 tour featuring VINTERSEA, The Anima Effect, and The Devils of Loudun.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
VINTERSEA came together in 2014 when (guitarist) Jorma and (vocalist) Avienne moved to the Pacific Northwest from other corners of the world to join (guitarist) Riley and (drummer) Jeremy in creating a new brand of melodic metal heavily inspired by our natural surroundings. Most recently, (bassist) Karl has brought his experience with many local and touring bands into the fold as VINTERSEA continues to grow and evolve.
2. What's the origin of the band's name?
Being from the Pacific Northwest, we are heavily inspired by the natural beauty and ferocity of our environment. While our music isn't defined by the ocean in any way, the frigid Pacific is one off the many things in our world from which we grab inspiration.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are based in Portland, Oregon, though we play our music all over the Pacific Northwest. Portland has a thriving metal scene that sometimes doesn't get a lot of attention. Our friends in Von Doom, Velaraas, The Desolate, Ligature Marks, and Othrys create quality music that elevates our entire scene, and we are proud to be in business with them.
4. How would you describe your style?
Our sound is eclectic, and is heavily inspired by melodic and progressive death metal and black metal. Our goal is to make intensely emotive music with an emphasis on writing conceptually. We love when we can blend heavy and delicate, beautiful and ferocious, all in the same song.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works? We released our debut full-length record, The Gravity of Fall, last year. From that record, we have released two feature music videos, with two more coming in later 2018. We strive to create professional, conceptual, and emotive work in everything we do.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?
2019 is shaping up to be a very exciting year, as we will be in the studio this winter. Stay tuned for that!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We have a few great local shows scheduled, but what we are really excited about right now is our upcoming Summer Prognosis tour with The Anima Effect and The Devils of Loudun. We'll be hitting some of the best music cities up and down the west coast, and playing our music for a lot of different people.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
VINTERSEA has our sights set on establishing ourselves as one of the Northwest's premiere metal acts, all while continuing to produce beautiful, haunting, and crushing music in the best way we know how.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
The best place to support VINTERSEA is on BandCamp (vintersea.bandcamp.com), where you can purchase physical copies of our music, shirts, and album packages. Our music is also available on all major digital music and streaming outlets, so make sure to check out VINTERSEA on Spotify!

10. What is it you'd like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
We would hope that when people hear our music for the first time, they feel the swing between light and airy beauty and crushing brutality within the same song. We hope that people can visualize the atmosphere in which the music was created, and most importantly that they want to listen to us again!

Thank you,

Riley Nix
VINTERSEA Guitarist
