TRIGGER THE FALL INTERVIEW

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members

Brothers Cory (guitar) and Coty (bass) have been playing music together since they were young, forming many bands together.  Their band Days of Redemption featured Mike Meyer  on vocals, who had been singing for a band called AMFM before that. Mike had even sang  in bands while stationed in Texas as a member of the US Army. After Days of Redemption  parted ways, Mike, Cory and Coty contacted Bob Wallsmith from O’f’allon-based Corpses  of Kings to play keyboards. in a new band they wanted to form, taking a different direction  than before. They put an ad on Craigslist for a drummer and the first to come try out was a great fit! Veteran drummer Hambone who had played in numerous original and cover bands and showed great proficiency. They played shows for just over a year when they recruited John Snarzyk, as their 2nd guitarist. He had been to just about every show at that point, being a close friend and former Corpses of Kings bandmate with Bob who really enjoyed     the music.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Mike came up with the name,  referencing that we tend to be underdogs that still push  and strive until we prevail.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there?

Are there any local bands you could recommend?  We are from St. Louis. The scene in St. Louis is very alive and active. There is a lot of bands supporting other bands and contributing to the scene. We have some good podcasts that interact with the scene as well.  Some other good bands from our scene, and just to mention a few, (sorry if we leave anyone out) are Discrepancies, Hallow Point, One Day, Silent Hollow, Final Drive,      As Earth Shatters, Outcome Of Betrayal, Fly Method really there are so many more too, its unbelievable.

 4. How would you describe your style?

Our musical style is very melodic metal that will catch you unsuspecting when it gets brutal.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far we have released a 5-song EP titled The Ascension EP and as well we released a single     titled The Calling. We have a lot of melodies in the music using vocal harmonies and atmospheric     elements on the keyboards as well as crushing riffs with Mike’s roaring screams. It would be hard     to put us in a box necessarily since lyrical themes come from various topics and we take many     different approaches to writing the music.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We do in fact have some new music in the works. We are writing and recording a full album      with the title The Great Divide.  We want to address different factors and speak to some of      the complexities that fuel the current American socio-political divide so we are hard at work      on that.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We have some shows coming up, June 23rd at Just Bills in Overland, August 18th at Imperial      Pub & Club, Labor Day weekend we are playing Rockfest, that is always fun. Great sound at that      event last year!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We want to finish this album, titled The Great Divide, and take our show to more different places     that we haven’t played yet. We are always striving for better means as well, to get better shows     and endorsements, make a better show and merch booth.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can listen to our music on all of the current digital distributors as well as on youtube and     Facebook or our website and merch can be bought through the band’s facebook page.

10.10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I think we would rather leave an impression on the listener with our depth in sound and the raw     emotion that is behind that.  Ideally a typical audience member might think “Whoa! Those songs      sound powerful and these are some cool talented guys!”
