Interview with Sean from ON MY COMMAND.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

At the moment, the band is just me. The album was recorded completely in the home studio by myself, and I took on the role of guitars, vocals, bass, keys programming, you name it. The original plan was to have another vocalist but that didn’t work out so I ended up doing it. If the band is taken live, then of course members that share the same vision will be recruited.

 2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

I struggled for a while to come up with a cool band name that wasn’t already taken. Running through some words I like, I realised I wanted “Command” to be used somewhere and ended up landing on ON MY COMMAND. I found out afterwards that one of the new Star Wars characters, Captain Phasma, uses ‘on my command’ but that is not where I got it from.

 3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there?

Are there any local bands you could recommend? The based out of the city of Brisbane, in the state of Queensland in Australia. The Brisbane metal scene in recent years has been a bit up and down depending on venues that are available for metal. Big bands still get a good turnout, but local gigs aren’t as consistent. A lot of really good bands have come out of Brisbane in the last decade, some more well known than others. On the extreme metal end Astriaal is a solid black metal band that have been kicking it for close to 20 years, same with Portal, which have had some international attention and did the whole anonymous stage costumes long before Ghost did. Misery are also a classic death metal with a touch of Motorhead band that have been around for ages. Caligula’s Horse have been making waves in the Prog world, and Valhalore are a world class folk metal band.

 4. How would you describe your style?

The sounds on the album are quite varied, but I’d it broadly fits a thrashier version of NWOBHM. It’s inspired by the classic metal sounds of Judas Priest, the melodies of Iron Maiden and the thrash of Metallica. Chuck in some power metal with grittier vocals and you have ON MY COMMAND

.5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

The debut album APPARITIONS was released in March 2018. In my opinion, it delivers a solid 50 minutes of heavy riffs, hard hitting drums and addictive melodies and solos.

 6. Do you have any new music in the works?

2 to 3 reworked songs from the Apparitions sessions, that just weren’t ready at the time should be out later in 2018 for a digital release.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

ON MY COMMAND is yet to play live. Hopefully next year sometime perhaps.

 8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

The original plan was just to release an album and tick that achievement off the list. But now the album is done and released, and is getting good feedback I can’t stop! The next step is writing a second album and assembling a live unit.

 9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

The album is available in CD through the official website www.onmycommand.com.au and is obviously the best way to support the band. However digital download and streaming options are of course also available, and there are some also audio tracks on You tube.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The solo to the song Starfighter. Melodic and Catchy!
