"Whispers of Calliope" is our third album. It’s a compilation of covers, bands that we love and influenced us a lot. We were playing all these songs in our unplugged sets, we love the acoustic sound, its warm, instant and poetic. Calliope is the name of my mother as well, all the members of INK have their families and children except me, this is my tribute to her by giving somehow her name…I remember  my mother singing when I was very young with her beautiful voice in the mornings, maybe this is one of the best memories that I have ever had, Calliope is the muse of lyrical poetry as well, it’s a return to the womb and a look to our influences. Where we began, where are we now, where do we go from here? Are we the same people, do we feel the same…Before our next electric album this is our way to pay tribute to our loved ones..Childhood heroes, friends and family…Thank you all."

The band was formed in August 1999 in Alexandroupolis, Greece. For almost a decade they have been recording various stuff of demos gaining praiseworthy reviews from Greek and international media and critics as well. In 2009 INK released their first full album called “Diary” which was a huge step to success and recognition. Through “Diary” the band came into high radio airplay both in Greece and in America, where many college radio stations included songs like “Welcome” and “Heart Pills” in their playlists. This was only the beginning. “Diary” was released by American label “POISON TREE Records”, while single “Ophelia” which is included in their second album was used as the soundtrack of “Drag Hell Zombies” next to Pamela Moore.

The alternative Greek band has also taken part in a series of music festivals and competitions such as “Spirit of Burgas” (Bulgaria), “IMAGINA | the European 3D simulation and visualization event” (Monaco) performing as supporting acts for bands like Faith No More, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Clawfinger, Twilight Singers, Puressence and God Is An Astronaut. Collaborations with Craig Walker (X-Archive), Johnny Bacolas (Second Coming, Alice in Chains) and Jeff Martin (Tea Party) were highlights of the band’s trajectory. There has never been a Greek group achieving to gain this kind of praise and recognition so fast within the country and abroad as well. In 2016 INK released their second album called “Loom” which kept up with the great work of the previous one while has been highly spoken of by critics, especially with the song “Sirens”. INK band consists of Chris Tsantalis (vocals), Kostas Apostolopoulos (guitars), Stavros Tsantalis (drums) and Kostas Ketseris (bass).

BIOGRAPHY Born in the 2015, Entropy Coding is a band created by the keyboardist and main composer Susanna Coltrè. The main purpose of this project is to reinterpret in a new way the symphonic metal genre, using prog and power metal elements with innovative voices. She needed to collaborate with 10 musicians, specialized in different musical genres. In January 2018, the debut album “Tales of the Moon” is out in digital distribution with the music label Agoge Records. A contribution to this project was the meeting with the producer Gianmarco Bellumori (Agoge Records), who was able to give form to Susanna's work, creating an original and personal sound during the recording period made at Wolf Recording Studio: so Tales Of The Moon has taken life!

 Please tell us about the band and its members. 
We are Entropy Coding, a symphonic-prog metal band from Rome. The project was created by our keyboardist and main composer Susanna Coltrè. She collaborated with other 10 musicians, specialized in other genres, to create this unique album: Emiliano Cantiano as Drummer, the bassist Leonardo Barcaroli, Melania Petrillo and Giovanni Saulini as Singers, Filippo Rosati, Fabrizio Proietti, Cristiano Neila, Vlad Voicu, Davide Catania, Danilo Carrabino as Guitarists.

2. Who does the majority of the writing? Is it a group thing or does someone handle the writing duties?
Susanna was the main composer of the album, she wrote keyboard, orchestral and vocal’s arrangements. Thanks to the professionalism and the skills of these 10 musicians, the dream of Entropy Coding and Tales of the Moon became true.

3. Where is the band based out of ? Where did you want to the band to end up? What was the dream city to have as your home base once you got out of your scene?
We are from Rome. We’d like to bring our music all over the world and we hope to find our dream city. For now, we can’t decide it.

4. What is your genre? What bands do you use to explain  to people what you sound like?
Our genre is a mix of symphonic and progressive metal music: our main purpose is to reinterpret in a new way the symphonic metal genre, using prog and power metal elements with innovative voices.

 5. Can we buy anything from you Cd's shirts etc and where can we buy them?
You can buy our first album Tales of the Moon on every digital platform, as Amazon, ITunes, Spotify. 

6. Do you have studio time lined up anything new coming soon?
At the moment we are preparing for our gigs. We’d like to start writing new material for the next album asap.


7. Have you ever been on tour? If so where and with who?

Actually no. As single member, we had the chance to share the stage with different great metal bands, we hope to do it again soon as Entropy Coding.

8. What is your favorite band? Who are the bands who influenced you?

Nightwish, Epica, Dream Theater and Symphony X are the bands who influenced us the most. They are so innovative in every new album and they are such an inspiration for us.

9. Do you have a website? And do I have to verify that I am 18 to enter it? 
 Of course we have our website www.entropycoding.com with all our info and news, but we are active also on Facebook. 

10. What about your music do you want people to remember? What is the quality you want to hit people when they hit play?

We just want to show our world, made of fantasy, adventures and darkness. We want to create a sort of soundtrack of our lives. If you can understand this and touch our soul, well...we’ll realize all of our dreams.


11. Name a person who is integral to your band that nobody knows about , what person drives your band like they are part of the band? Who is the extra member ?

Our extra members are our families and friends that support us everytime. A special thank goes to our producer Gianmarco Bellumori, who guides us in every step of our story. 

12. Tell nerds like me about your live rig and equipment.

Susanna: for now we can’t say what our live equipment will be. We collaborate with a lot of musicians and they use differents setup according to the studio or live experience. As the founder of the project, I can just talk about my keyboards: Korg Krome 73, Korg TR88 and my home-made keytar Eteria.

13.What is your musical guilty pleasure that you are ashamed of?
We don’t think to have one. We appreciate a lot of music genres because we can learn something from them. 

14.If you could custom build a band who would be the members?

We’d like to see a band with Marco Minnemann as Drummer, Ashe O’Hara and Floor Jansen as Singers, Derek Sherinian as Keyboardist, Tony Levin as bassist and Petrucci as Guitarist. It’s a strange and absurd mix, but it can work!

15.Message to the fans? What is it?
If you have a dream, just work hard for it and follow it, even if you’re alone. At the end of the journey, all your efforts will be rewarded.

BlackAmethyst Band REBEL AS F%*k NO POCKET PROTECTOR NEEDED!

Interviewer: Tell us about your band and what you do for your band. 

Black Amethyst is an eclectic progressive metal band from Tucson, Arizona.

Matt: I hit things. 

Zack: I play guitar. 

Ashley: I play bass without a pick. 

Ruben: I write all the lyrics and provide both clean and harsh vocals. 


Interviewer: When did you decide you wanted to be in a band?

Matt and Ruben wanted to be in a band since high school, Ashley wanted to be in a band since middle school, and Zack has always wanted to be in a band. 


Interviewer: What is different about being a musician than you imagined? 

The whole financial aspect of the music industry was a huge hindsight, it wasn’t just making music anymore. It was figuring out a way to get money so we can pay for the banner, merchandise, and everything else involved. There’s also not as much partying as Zack expected. 


Interviewer: What gear do you use and why? 

Matt: I play a Pearl drum set BLX series with Paiste cymbals (they’re the bomb) that was top of the line in the late 80s, it was a gift from my Great Aunt Beth.

Zack: I’m currently in the works of getting new equipment. 

Ashley: I run a Model 3500 Hartke Systems Transient Attack bass amp and a Gallien Krueger Backline 410BLX bass cabinet. I also use a Warwick Corvette bass with a Darkglass Alpha/Omega distortion pedal. 

Ruben: Shure Beta 58A Performance Microphone, it is the industry standard performing microphone. 


Interviewer: What music do you listen to that would surprise people?

Matt: I really like The Script and Stravinsky.

Zack: Latin music.

Ashley: I adore Meghan Trainor and it’s not something I tend to share a lot. 

Ruben: I listen to Norah Jones and John Mayer.

Interviewer: Do you want a record deal or are you DIY?

Members of the band are partial on which route we’d rather take, we believe that having a record deal would open doors and let us focus more on the music and less on the business side of things. However, it could land us in massive amounts of debt whereas if we did it by ourselves we wouldn’t be in debt to anyone. 


Interviewer: What bands do people compare your music to? 

Tool is a big one with elements of Korn and Alice in Chains. 

Interviewer: Are you pro Spotify/streaming services? Or do you think it hurts sales?

Matt: Music is more like an advertising for what your selling like tickets and merchandise, the music has become free but the show and merch are where we make money. 

Zack: I guess it’s easy for people to learn about other bands but the band doesn’t make much for streaming services

Ashley: Spotify is a good tool to get your music heard, to me, it’s not meant to be where you make money. 

Ruben: We’re going towards a pure electronic platform so the more people who can access our music for free will see our music and support us in other ways such as merch and going to concerts. 


Interviewer: What’s the ultimate goal for the band? 

Matt, Zack, and Ashley: Be the first band in space!

Ruben: When Korn gets inducted into the Rock n Roll Music Hall of Fame, we would be the band to play their music for them at their induction. 


Interviewer: Will we see you tour?

We do have upcoming shows on October 27th at the House of Bards from 7-10pm and on November 17th at The Rock from 5:30-6pm. Both venues are in Tucson, Arizona. 


Interviewer: Who would you love to tour with? 

Matt: King Crimson, Tool obviously

Zack: Limp Bizkit, Puscifer

Ashley: A Perfect Circle, Periphery, Animals as Leaders

Ruben: Korn, Tool, Rammstein

Interviewer: What is your favorite song of yours and why? 

Matt: I kind think our newest one the Accused is gonna be a good one, there are odd times and there's a lot of well-placed pauses and overall the song is filled with a lot of intense emotions, I love that.

Zack: Burnout, the riffs are really fun to play and it's a good pump it up song. 

Ashley: Whoosh cuz I kind of feel sassy when I play it. 

Ruben: Evil Eye, I like the mixture of the different vocal styles there's lots of intensity and then there's mellow part and rhythmic parts thrown in at the end.


Interviewer: Why should people take the time to listen to your band over thousands of other bands? 

Matt: Because we’re better.

Zack: Because we’re kick ass.

Ashley: We’re kinda cool and we do music differently. Definitely worth a listen. 

Ruben: I think we take the time to challenge ourselves and do things that people aren’t doing. None of our songs are half-assed, everyone is constantly working and we’re all trying to do something that’s unexpected.

Interviewer: Is imagery important to you? Do you judge albums by their cover?

Matt: I think imagery is important but I don't think I judge albums by their cover because I think the imagery can add to the music if you want it to. 

Zack: Yes, I guess yeah, because if an album cover looks cool then I’m going to be impressed by it and pick it up. 

Ashley: Imagery is important but it’s not something that should dictate whether a band is cool or not. 

Ruben: I don’t really cool what the album looks like at all because I will only buy an album if I know what the music sounds like. I didn’t put down Metallica’s Black album because it looked boring. 


Interviewer: If you could choose a cover song your bandmates would hate what would it be? 

Matt: Get Down on It by Kool & The Gang

Bio:
Cursus Bellum, spawned in the vast black soil of Lundaslätten, Sweden is consisting of Jocke Unger – drums / vocals and Anders Nyander – guitars / bass. 
After decade long co-operation in constellations such as Sgt.Carnage, along with the mutual metal-vinyl & beer consumption of biblical proportions, 
the musical and creative direction of Cursus Bellum first took its perverted form in 2013. 
The first official unveiling of the duo came in form of the recording MCD/Cassette “Accusing The Dead“, released early 2016 on Downfall Records. 
Further inspired by the surounding muddy moraine and pale horizonless skies of the Scanian plains material for a new full length album was assembled. 
The recording seance was once again held in Studio Oggerlunden and the new full length album “Ex Nihilo Nihil Fit” will be released as CD and in Digital
format by Downfall Records in the fall of 2018.
