In this episode of An Old School Album Review we're discussing the Casper Wyoming band ROT.

https://www.facebook.com/rotmetalpunk/

We spoke with the band prior to this review here's what they had to say:

Tunings?

Standard tuning.

Bands you have played with?

Animosity,Cremation, Desecrator, Rhoar.

Accomplishments?

3 full albums and 1 Ep. Played east coast to west coast. Recorded on both coasts.

Describe to us the music scene in Casper in the 80's.

Not much of a metal scent in the 80s. We were more of a 90’s mainstream. There was a small scene. We mostly played in neighboring states like Colorado, Montana, South Dakota.

Goals?

The goal is to keep writing kickass music.

Let's get to the review:

TRIPLE BLACK

Good production and audio quality are good...

Hammering riffs...

Good chugs really intense...

Righteous solo...

Ends in a fury.

DRAGON FIRE

Good riff selection to build this song up to the signature Groove...

Good lyrics and vocal presentation...

Blistering solo into a killer riff...

The verse riffs are stellar.

SEX, DRUGS, AND ROCK N ROLL

This should be interesting...

Well, put together...

The tempo changes are good...

The chunkier part before the solo is well played...

Production is top-notch.

RITE OF PASSAGE

Riff monster...

Good highlights on lead guitar...

A Dave Mustaine type of vocals here...

Good lyrics...

Well played transitions.

PUNKO

Extremely fast-paced 100 miles an hour...

Huge solo at Breakneck speed...

Drums are intense...

Slows back down in the right place just to build the intensity again...

Solid song.

ATOM SMASHER

A wicked way to start a song...

Interesting guitar effects...

Solid Groove...

Intense solo into blazing riffs...

Solo's are screaming...

Solid chugging...

The lyrics are good.

WHITE WALKERS

Creepy intro...

Begins to march in the build-up...

Solos are always noteworthy...

Good Groove throughout the song...

Chugs hit really hard...

Tom work on drums sounds good...

Ends just as creepy as it started.

TIME OF DEATH

Love the drums on this...

That Groove is killer...

Basslines are rollin...

This is my favorite song off of this album...

Features Good lyrics...

The pauses are well-timed...

Interesting changes and transitions...

Great guitar work this is a solid song.

BOTTOM LINE:

ROT is actually a legendary band here in Casper. Wade Kindel has kept that memory alive with new music.

I don't see that stopping any time soon.

Basically, all self-made, Wade, and Paul E. Wogg (Paul Haigh) are still creating music that our community can be proud of!!!
