NEW BREW : MUTE

1.Introduce yourself and your band and tell us why we should listen to you.

I am Dez frontman and vocalist for MUTE TX from Pearsall,TX. We are not your cookie cutter band. We draw from our heritage and influences. You will  not be disappointed. If you love melodic harmonizing vocals you will absolutely love our melodic vocals mixed with groovy heavy metal riffs.

2.What do you classify your sound as, Who do you tell people you sound like?

That’s always the difficult question to answer. I guess it depends on which song you listen to. What they all have in common is the soulful melodic metal riffs. So I guess melodic metal encompasses all that we are.

3.With digital music in today's world would you vote to keep or eliminate physical media?

As for myself I love being able to have a physical cd to display and digital to listen to.i think they go hand in hand no need to eliminate either.

4.What is the reason you decided to be a musician and has that reason paid off?

Well we (all grew up in the church so that’s where I first fell in love with harmonies and found out how to put your soul into the music..

5.How do you feel about females in metal getting special attention? Do you feel it is fair?

I actually have several female vocalist that I look up to for their range. So I guess you could say I’m one those giving them special attention so I’m ok with it if they have the talent. Same goes for male vocalist as long as they put everything they have into their singing and go above and beyond to be at the absolute  top of their vocal carreers then I think the deserve the attention.

6.In the world climate with hatred being at an all time high and metal being an “ angry” music

Do you think your music contributes to anger and hatred?

Absolutely not. Our music comes from a sacred place and we hold it too high in reverence to waste our time spewing hatred or division.

7.Are you opposed to religious beliefs or politics being used in music?

Everyone has the freedom to choose what they are passionate about however I try to stay away from politics so I probably wont listen to political songs but I was raised with religious beliefs. Although I do no walk the path I hold it in high regards.

8.We have dive into some pretty deep issues here do you think your music sends a message and if so what is it?

Our music comes from our experiences so we hope that whoever listens to our music can feel that they are not alone in what they go through.

9.The market has changed and many bands believe that record labels are a thing of the past, with many labels now charging bands to “sign” how do you think a band can make it in todays scene?

I see it as an investment in our future in the industry. Same as when I paid to go to school I invested in myself. There are ways to get exposure themselves but I’d rather have a team working with us and for us then going it alone.

10.Why with the thousands of options including netflix , sporting events everything on demand

Why do you think people should take the time to listen to what you have to say in your music?

You can’t find soul in watching movies. Music is the only answer. With music you can be transported to the past or to another universe by just listening to the story we have to tell.

11.How do you feel about pay to play? Do you think it is fair for a band to have to pay money to play? I’m not a fan of it if it’s an all locals show but I do know and understand that with major shows your paying to play in front of an audience that you more than likely would not have a chance to otherwise.

12.It is fact that you are the talent and the entertainment explain what you think is the most important key to success?

Do not give up. Do whatever it takes to achieve your dreams without losing yourself.

13.In country music and even in some cases rock music is written and performed by different people would your band perform a song written by someone else?

If we really felt it fit us and we could make it our own absolutely we would.

14.If you are pro female in music are you pro using sex to sell your music?

We are not against it

15.What is your view on the lawsuits against people saying lewd or unprofessional things to women or men and how does that affect an art described as sex drugs and rock n roll

If a case of defamation then sue away . As far as how it effects the art I think its transforming from what it used to be. I mean we have never lived that life so I’m ok with the change.

16. Ok lets lighten up a bit. What is your favorite band of all time and why?

I have so many from different genres of music. If I had to pick one I would have to say the Beatles. Because they encompass everything I love about rock and metal.

17.What would you be doing if you were not in a band?

I can’t even imagine what I would do.

18. Do you have a favorite sports team?

We grew up watching wrestling. We even trained to be wrestlers .

19.If you could get on stage with anyone dead or alive who would it be?

FREDDY MERCURY.

20.This is your shot to let loose, Throw down your biggest complaint about the music biz

BANDS NOT SUPPORTING EACH OTHER
