A/: Animals Killing People is the name of the band, I wanted to create a band with a different philosophy to anything that was out there, and wanted to have a message, so I wanted a name that would describe that, I mentioned to the other 2 guys in the band at that time, as a joke I wanted something that had to do with Animals Killing People, and one of them said: how about that? I said what? Animals Killing People?and I said yeah that’s actually great, so that’s been the name ever since.
What is your name and what do you do for the band?
A/: My name is Wilson Rairan, I’m the drummer and founder of the band.
2.Tell us where you are based and describe the scene. How do you think where you are located influences your sound.
A/: We’re based in Brooklyn, New York, the scene here is very scattered, there are a bunch of shows, sometimes too many, it’s a good thing cause you have choices and it’s fun, everything happens in New York, but at the same time bad cuz people don’t assist to shows specially to see locals bands.
3.Who influences your sound that would surprise people?
A/: I guess we have influences from many metal bands, specially the most brutal ones, you get influenced by everything you hear whether you want it or not, but to be honest when it comes to compose our material we just focus on letting our own style and flow take over.
4.Are you endorsed by musical companies, if so who, and if not who would you like to be endorsed by?
A/: Not at the moment, but I’d like to be endorsed by Paiste Cymbals, or Meinl, they have great cymbals and for drums maybe DW or Tamagotchi’s and for pedals DW or Axis.
5.When you started what was your ultimate goal? And how close to the goal are you now?
A/: I guess the goal was to create one of the most brutal bands of the planet whilst getting the veganism, compassion and awareness towards animals message to humans, and the horrible reality they have to endure in ours, I want that message to penetrate through human’s thick skull and unevolved way of thinking. The goal has been achieved to certain extent, I’ve gotten messages from many different fans in different countries around the world, fans and sometimes even people who are not into metal who are grateful with the band, because it has awaken them and turned them into vegetarianism or even Death Metal music due to the message that’s being conveyed.
6.In today's digital environment it takes creative strategy to keep things moving. What creative ideas do you have to keep your band relevant over time?
A/: It’s true, let’s say nowadays it’s very hard to sell physical copies of ours CD’s, when our albums come out, they go online at the same time as the physical copies come out, so not many people wanna buy CD’s anymore, it’s a reality that all bands have to live with these days, There are people who are loyal to the band and will always want to collect our CD’s, but they go out slowly, I think the best thing to do it’s to create as many platforms as possible to stay in people’s minds, and let them know that the band is active and they can always expect more from us, so the relevance is never lost.
7.We've all seen a terrible live band that is awesome on CD. Is that cool with you or do you lose respect for bands that cannot pull it off live?
A/: I usually give them more than one chance, I understand when that happens, it has happened to all of us who play shows all the time, too many factors come into play when you’re playing a show, and could definitely affect your performance and make people believe the band can’t pull it off on stage same as on an album, the show could be affected by many different things such as venue sound quality, organization of the promoters, stage size, sound engineers, even the mood the band goes on to play on stage, so it’s not as easy as black and white you know.
8.Tell us your “core” are you Metal , Rock , Punk , Pop etc because people just have to categorize these days you know?
A/: Death Grind Metal.
9.This is a tough question but a very real reality, Is your band actually talented or just popular? Many bands make it with a cliche or publicity stunts etc. Would you accept fame even if it was just because of being the “ in” thing or is it actually important to you that you gain favor with talent?
A/: I think the band has gained certain level of popularity due to our catchy music, and definitely the talent that it takes to play our music, I would never want this band to be popular because of being part of a trend of some kind or something similar that would define the band as part of something trendy.
10.Tell us what to expect from you live. Nothing is more boring than watching bands stare at the floor and bob their heads to music nobody but the band knows. What can your band offer in a live setting that people will remember?
A/: Lots of energy on stage, sometimes we accompany our shows with visuals of animals attacking humans, eating them or showing also how humans are fucked up to them but then these people get fucked as well in one way or another.
11. What releases have you put out , When will we see something new?
A/: I will name our releases here:
- Human Hunting Season - EP (First Press 2004), (2nd Press 2006) Goregiastic Records/Sevared Records
- Kentucky Fried Killing - Full Length - First Press (2009), 2nd Press (2014) Sevared Records

12. If you have videos where can we see them?

Obscene Extreme Fest 2017 (Live):
13.Everybody has Bandcamp , ReverbNation , Soundcloud , etc Why do you think this is so important? Doesn't it seem like everyone is giving everything out for free?
These are ours by the way:
Bandcamp: https://animalskillingpeople.bandcamp.com
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AnimalsKillingPeople/
Revernation: https://www.reverbnation.com/animalskillingpeople
These are good platforms to share samples of our music, not everything is there, if bands wanna give their stuff for free it’s up to them, in the beginning it could be a good way to share their music and get some recognition in the local scene which could then go international.
14.Best moment of your career so far?
I think playing at the Obscene Extreme Festival in Cz Republic in 2017 was great, probably our best moment and favorite show so far.
15.Your message to the fans?
A message to everyone is: Stop using animals for food and in general unless you’re starving in a mountain and need to hunt in order to survive, remember they’re better than us and are stuck in our stupid human reality and keep it brutal and listen to brutal bands. And to our fans: Thank you for the brutal support over the years!!
Bonus Question who do you bring back Dime , Cliff , Dio , Lemmy , Randy
Definitely Dime.
