THE REKKENING Interview

1.What is the name of your band and how did you come up with it?
THE REKKENING. The name came out of an abusive relationship I was in, my bf at the time use to call me his Reckoning, actually carved it in our dining room table. He broke 3 of my ribs one day, I finally had enough, threw that table at him, kicked him out of my house and said  now I AM  “THE RECKONING” I changed the spelling to REKKENING. This was the start of a total transformation of my life and THE REKKENING literally saved my life.

What is your name and what do you do for the band?
I am Trasee Lynn. I am the creator of the band, lead vocals, lyrics, songwriter.

2.Tell us where you are based and describe the scene. How do you think where you are located
influences your sound.
THE REKKENING originated in Vancouver, BC. The scene there slowly died after years of being very vibrant. Eventually it all became “Pay to Play! After 10 years I moved to Montreal, where I found a new drummer (Joseph)and lead guitaris (Dragon). My bassist (Goredzilla) who started the band with me, moved here as well, 6 months ago.
I think living in Vancouver and watching the scene die, as well as constant suffering and struggle in life out there influenced the “ANGST” in our music.

3.Who influences your sound that would surprise people?
My biggest influence and reason I got into music is Alice Cooper. I've actually met him 3 times and got to be on stage with him in Vancouver.

4.Are you endorsed by musical companies , if so who , and if not who would you like to be
endorsed by?
We are not currently endorsed by anyone, however I would love to endorsed by Shure !

5.When you started what was your ultimate goal? And how close to the goal are you now?
To be honest, my goal in the beginning was to show the people who said I couldn't do it, that I could and I was good at it. After awhile it changed to wanting to play festivals or clubs in Europe, which we have not had that opportunity yet due to ever changing drummers mostly, lol Also, financial constraints and lack of connections.

6.In today's digital environment it takes creative strategy to keep things moving. What creative
ideas do you have to keep your band relevant over time?
I am always writing, doing promotion/marketing, getting our name out everywhere I can think of. Talking to anyone in the industry who will listen and being constantly persistent !

7.We've all seen a terrible live band that is awesome on CD. Is that cool with you or do you lose
respect for bands that cannot pull it off live?
No, I don't think it's cool ! Your cd should sound like your band live. We do our best to keep our sound real, raw and in your face!

8.Tell us your “core” are you Metal , Rock , Punk , Pop etc because people just have to
categorize these days you know?
We are punk/metal crossover

9.This is a tough question but a very real reality, Is your band actually talented or just popular?
Many bands make it with a cliche or publicity stunts etc. Would you accept fame even if it was
just because of being the “ in” thing or is it actually important to you that you gain favor with
talent?

Ok, so Yes we are actually talented. We are not popular and the reason for that is the market is saturated with all the same music, in every genre, it all pretty much sounds the same and we are DIFFERENT, UNIQUE, a lot of people like to say they are different, but they aren't.. most people are afraid of change, of something new, so they stick to what they know or are used to.. as well the music industry is all about money, so they will only pick bands that stick to a certain formula to generate income. We don't do this for money. I have a story to tell and I want to inspire people, especially women. It's a tough industry still these days for women in “Metal”. I've had many players in my band over the years,  say to me 'why are you so angry? Can't you just sing a sweet song!! WTF?? LOL
I am a force not to be REKKENED with !!
I grew up hard core, no parents to support me, lived on the streets at a very young age and went through an incredible amount of torment that you could not even imagine.

10.Tell us what to expect from you live. Nothing is more boring than watching bands stare at the
floor and bob their heads to music nobody but the band knows. What can your band offer in a
live setting that people will remember?
THE REKKENING is NOT boring, by any means ! I am constantly in your face and I like to get the audience involved.. just like when I go to see my favorite bands I want to feel like I'm with them... we feed off their energy, so we are going to give them all we've got !

11. What releases have you put out , When will we see something new? Our first release was “Best Served Cold” 4 song EP 2009.
“Your New Religion” Single 2009 “RIOT” 2010 Demo “Broken Mind” EP 2013 & “WTF” First full length 2018. We are currently writing a NEW 4 song EP to be released April 2019

12. If you have videos where can we see them? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtFLZy9hobTrUpHuZf9JhkA?view_as=subscriber

13.Everybody has Bandcamp , ReverbNation , Soundcloud , etc

Why do you think this is so important? Doesn't it seem like everyone is giving everything out for
free? Well, it's important because the way the industry is today, everything in done online. So, you have a have an online presence everywhere for people to hear your music. You have to give stuff out for free to get people attention to your band.

14.Best moment of your career so far? Best moment I think was getting accepted to play Loud as Hell festival last summer. We applied 2 years in a row and finally got to play. The response was amazing, the stage was huge and the owners of the festival were really impressed.
15.Your message to the fans? I dare you all to raise your middle finger to who ever doesn't believe in you, no matter what your passion is. Believe in yourself and tell them all to 'FUCK OFF” !

Bonus Question who do you bring back
Dime , Cliff , Dio , Lemmy , Randy

ALL OF THE ABOVE !
