GONE BY SUNDOWN INTERVIEW

1. Please tell us about the about the band and its members.

Well where should i start? I can start by presenting my self: My name is Tonie Rombin and I'm the founding member of GBS and I'm also playing the bass. I was born in the lovely 1980´s and was raised up into the world of metal by my uncles who brought bands like Guns´n roses, AC/DC and Accept to my ears, this was long before internet came to be, young folks, so it was the only way to get music into our little village where i grew up.
On guitars we have the c/o founding member Tomas Pedersen who I got to know from an add on internet about starting a band and thought, “well I'll give this guy a call”. This was many years ago. Tomas is the silent but lethal guy in the band. He does not talk that much but he is probably one of the smartest guys in the band.
Then we have Johan Holmström who also plays the guitar, you can hear his work on the singles, he is the one shredding solos and writing a lot of the music as well. He is the founding member of the band Erain who also plays melodic metal such as GBS so it came kind of natural that we added him to the band.
On keyboards we have Fredrik Lunneberg. He is the oldest guy in the band and he makes our music sound melodic with his skills on the keyboards. He is also like the heart of the band and a like a mentor and link between everything when we run into problems. I would say he is the leader of the wolf pack even though he does not want to be recognized as one.
Then we have Oliver Dahlbäck, Jesus where do i start with this guy (hehe) well he is the energy of the band, he is young and talented and hungry, both on making the band move forward and his consumption for meat. He is a chef for a profession when he's not spanking his drums. He is the youngest member of the band a pain in the but, mostly in a good way (hehe) if Fredrik is the captain of the ship Oliver is the engineer who runs the motor.
Last but not least we have the star of the band, Frida Gradin who is the lead singer and the beautiful side of GBS. She was born in a small town located barely south of he middle of Sweden  and moved north to Umeå where she's doing her studies, the forthcoming year she is taking a year off from the books to focus 100% on her own progress as well as the band and our future. Here voice is the key to the sound of Gone by Sundown with her characteristic, Irish-influenced spot-on voice.

2. Who does the majority of the writing? Is it a group thing or does someone handle the writing duties?

Well, I think we are all involved in the writing process, but it always starts with some one having an idea and uploads it to our dropbox and then we all start to make our thing around that idea.

3. Where is the band based out of ? Where did you want the band to end up? What was the dream city to have as your home base once you got out of your scene?

I think we like to call our home city Umeå and we will stay here and work on our music. I my self loves the nature, the ocean, and the forest where i get my energy boosted and find my inspiration. This is where most of us have our families and friends.

4. What is your genre? What bands do you use to explain  to people what you sound like?

Our genre is melodic metal and you can't listen to GBS without making parallels to the giants such as; Nightwish, Within temptation and Epica. Even if we try to make our own thing around our music we will automatically be sent into the same category as these great bands.

5. Can we buy anything from you Cd's shirts etc and where can we buy them?

We are today working on our website which will contain merchandise among other information and we will try to have it up and running by the end och 2018. What you can buy out of the site is still a behind the curtains but will be revealed soon.

6. Do you have studio time lined up anything new coming soon?

We  are always working in our home studio and yes we have some new songs lined up for pre-prod. I can tell you that in this very moment we are working on our ballad “Stories around the world” that is in the final stage of the production before mixing and mastering.

7. Have you ever been on tour? If so where and with who?

GBS has never been on tour but we have all been playing music on stages with other bands. GBS is brand new, first we need to make a playlist for you guys, THEN we will come out to play. We are aiming on 2020 to be the year when we move out of our dungeon and hit the roads.

8. What is your favorite band? Who are the bands who influenced you?

I think it is a mixed question. I know Oliver loves bands like “Dark funeral, Cradle of Filth” and so on. Me my self is more of a Slipknot, Stone Sour, Sabaton guy. Fredrik has a crush for the older metal bands such as Iron Maiden, Mötley Crüe and whatever he listens to, hehe. The good thing is, we all get our inspiration from a great variety of genres and everyone respects each others choice of favourite music which makes us a strong act in writing and delivering songs for a broad audience.

9. Do you have a website? And do I have to verify that I am 18 to enter it?

Well. We HAVE a website but it is under construction at the moment so i would stick to our facebook page for news and contacts with the band and our members.
You don't have to be 18 to listen to good music and i promise, no pants will be dropped on our website, (yet) hehe.

10. What about your music do you want people to remember? What is the quality you want to hit people with when they play it?

Every song and lyrics that I write, I want to have a meaning, a story and that way make the listener think “I wonder how he felt when he wrote this” I think that's the red line for all of us when we contribute in writing for the band.

11. Name a person who is integral to your band that nobody knows about , what person drives your band like they are part of the band? Who is the extra member ?

We got some good guys that we can't give enough creds to for helping us out. For starters we have our brazilian producer: Marcos Cerutti who is the guy who works with the mixing of our music, he also acts like kind of mentor. Like the best guy there is, you know. Then for the next single we have Robin Mattsson that works the extenden orchestration and Oscar Nilsson doing the mastering.

12. Tell nerds like me about your live rig and equipment.
N/A

13. What is your musical guilty pleasure that you are ashamed of?

There is nothing to be ashamed of........ ever!

14.If you could custom build a band who would be the members?

They all wouldn't fit on a stage so we'll just leave that for now.

15.Message to the fans? What is it?

Stay tuned, stay metal and stay true, we'll be with you all the way and dedicate our forthcoming music all for the lovers and believers!
