Aeolian INTERVIEW

1. Please tell us about the about the band and its members.

Aeolian begun as a personal project, and, while I was composing the songs I looked for the rest of the members of the band.

I have known Dani (the singer) for 25 years and we shared our last band. I met Gabi when I joined the local Surf&Rock band Hattori Hanzo Surf Experience, in which he is the lead guitarist and I play trombone. I have known Toni and Alberto in the local Metal scene. They play bass and drums in our band. Toni played with Helevorn and Goreinhaled and Alberto plays with the Black Metal band Inferitvm and Decomposed Torso.

2. Who does the majority of the writing? Is it a group thing or does someone handle the writing duties?

Eight of the songs in the album were written by me, because I started this project on my own. However the song “Return of the Wolf King”, “Elysium” and “Wardens of the Sea” were written by Dario Barredo, Pilar Riera and Leoben Conoy, respectively.

3. Where is the band based out of ? Where did you want to the band to end up? What was the dream city to have as your home base once you got out of your scene?

We are based in Majorca for now because we have our jobs and families here, but, if one day we happen to make a living our music, then we will decide where we want to go.

4. What is your genre? What bands do you use to explain  to people what you sound like?

I don’t like music classification but our music has influences from Melodic Death Metal, Black Metal, Thrash Metal and Folk. I think the band sounds influenced by Amorphis, the old Dimmu Borgir’s albums, the new Kreator’s albums, but I prefer not to compare us with the great Metal bands, I'd tell people to listen to us to know what we sound like.

 5. Can we buy anything from you Cd's shirts etc and where can we buy them?

Right now you can pre-order our CD “Silent Witness” on the Snow Wave Records website: www.snow-wave-records.com. Also, the debut album will be available on our Bandcamp page on the following link: aeolianband.bandcamp.com. On the other hand, we have just ordered an official band shirt which will be available on the same websites.

6. Do you have studio time lined up anything new coming soon?

The truth is we are waiting to see how this first album is welcomed. I can tell you we have some new sketches.

7. Have you ever been on tour? If so where and with who?

This is a new band so we haven't been on tour yet.

8. What is your favorite band? Who are the bands who influenced you?

Actually one of my favorite bands is Amorphis. I'm influenced by Opeth, Amorphis, Wintersun, Ensiferum, Kreator, Dimmu Borgir, Dissection, and many others.

9. Do you have a website? And do I have to verify that I am 18 to enter it?

Yes, we have. This is the link: www.aeolianband.com. Everyone can enter it. There are no adult contents on it.

10. What about your music do you want people to remember? What is the quality you want to hit people when they hit play?

I will like people to remember two main things. First, the activist message of the lyrics in which we call for the protection of the environment. Second, the rage and the harmony you get through the music.

11. Name a person who is integral to your band that nobody knows about , what person drives your band like they are part of the band? Who is the extra member ?

I think the most supporting and hardworking person so far has been Tomi Toivonen, our main contact from Snow Wave Records. He should be considered the sixth member of Aeolian.

12. Tell nerds like me tell us about your live rig and equipment.

We normally use Mesa Boogie dual rectifier amps with a Tube Screamer overdrive pedal. Gabi plays a Fender Telecaster and me a VGS Eruption guitar. We also use the boss DD-3 digital delay and the TC Electronics Flashback 2 delay. Toni uses Ibanez a 5 strings Premium SR1605 bass and Ampeg SVT 4Pro amp and Alberto plays a 90's Premier XPK drums and uses Sabian and Meinl cymbals.

13.What is your musical guilty pleasure that you are ashamed of?

I'm not ashamed of anything I hear.

14.If you could custom build a band who would be the members?

Marty Friedman and John Petrucci as guitarists, Les Claypool as a bassist, George Kollias as a drummer and Udo Dirkschneider on vocals. This is the curious choice of each of us.

15.Message to the fans? What is it?

We would like to thank you to all of you for sharing and listen to our music. You can visit our website www.aeolianband.com  and follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. You can also pre-order our debut album “Silent Witness” on www.snow-wave-records.com.
