Symphony of Symbols interview

Please tell us about the history of your band and its member?

In '97 we brought the brigade with Sanyi. A year later we found Tomi. So the three of us have been making the core of the band since then. Camaraderie! :) People around us around are fluctuated well, we could even say the band is like a passageway :) There were certain members of course too. Then in 2016 we asked Frici to try sing for us. Szöszi is also an old friend who writes effects on discs.

What's the origins the bands name?

We already had a lot of themes, samples when we started thinking of a name. We wanted a name which reflect our concept, but we had to try to find out what came out from us. The frames were already complex and, of course, they were fucking unkind. :) We laughed at how the themes alternate as in a symphony. Well, we started playing it and we quickly found our way. Directly we enjoyed that no one could stick to the songs. And to this the stories across the whole album came, which, of course, are about a specific subject, but they also strongly refer to our world. It became Symphony of Symbols.

Where is the band  based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The is from South Hungary, based in Szeged. When we started, club life was sparkling in the neighborhood, there were plenty of places. We went to each other's concerts, went with bus to other cities after the buddies. It has established many of today's friendships. Today, it has changed a lot. We are not a hysterical brigade, we're doing the party even if the club can only provide two cords. After this I'm saying the situation is not too rosy now. There are well-equipped university clubs, a lot of places where there are good chances, but death metal is not allowed. When underground clubs open the operator does not really learn from the mistakes of the previous one and close them shortly.
We have a good relationship with the bands. They have click-through like at many places, but we can find the voice with everyone. Maybe because we're not on anyone's side. We have our own path that - unlike many - we do not impose on our environment, we know our way is not the only one good way.
In the neighborhood, those who have had an impact on us are no longer working or not in the usual form. Such as Nebron, Gholgoth, Ahriman, or Diaphragm. Of course, Mörbid Carnage, the Gravecrusher, is just to say the best. And nationally, Age of Agony and Gutted, who are really worth paying attention to.

How would you describe your stile?

Death metal: D But certainly there are not many death metal such ours. 8-10 Minutes songs from 25-30 themes. In our country, the music concept of a disc is not actually cut into numbers, even if the album is tracked. There are some topics that may occur in every song. We're not just repeating numbers, not just riffs, but blocks of several themes. There is also no new topic, just what was already on the disk, but it was rebuild in a completely different way. It was hard to learn because sometimes we did not know which song we are in :)

What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

On August 10, our Historiocriticism album will be released in Metal Scrap Records edition. Musically, we have tried to take the muzzle and disc structures even more extreme. In text it shows the lies of the history of the world. The cover-up of the archeologial finds to maintain power. How the New World Order move the world, economy, wars, and even the metal. They wrote for us, for the Hungarians that kind of History which has nothing to do with reality.

Do you have any new music in the works?

Of course. We have already created some new themes and we are thinking about in a new structure of frames. It already seems that there is still spares for this musical concept.

How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Because of the nature of our music we are not a known band. We are having concerts here and there, but we do not organize tours. We won't pay for others to show us. In our town, Szeged, once a year we make the SzegeDEATH fest, it makes us one or two recalls. We have that kind of neighbour countries which areas was Hungarian area, so there are many Hungarians living beyond the border. We'd like to go and visit these places in the near future.

What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We have two videoclip ideas for Historiocriticism what we want to accomplish. Then we will overlay to the next disc.

Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can buy the disk and any such merch stuffs from us or buy from Metal Scrap. You can listening us at Spotify and similar surfaces.

What is it you'd like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We'd like that the metal would not be just a cliché packed up in a row, the metal would notbe  just a predictable mood what the music industry has been doing for the past 25 years. And now I'm not only thinking about the bands in trackshuits. eath and black metal do not want to be good, but they just want to sell. There is no musical value in it, so it's just a business. The big bands work this way, the little ones are copying. That is why I can hardly collect 10 albums from the last 20 years, which have been made a great band and I like it. I think it's good if someone goes after his own head and not after the dollar. The Symbols are so small. There is still where to go with a musical concept, I think.
