DESOLATE PATHWAY INTERVIEW

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

(Vince) Desolate Pathway is myself on vocals and guitar, Mags on drums and backing vocals and Jaeme on bass. We formed in mid-2014 with Mags and myself as the original members and Jaeme being with us almost a year now.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

(Vince) The band originally started around 2013 as a solo project under the name Origin Konrad with Konrad being a family name. I released a 4 track mini album with the help of Drummer Darin McCloskey from USA doom veterans Pale Divine. Early 2014 I decided to form it into a real band with Desolate Pathway originally being the debut album title, soon changing that to Valley of the King and changing the band name to something more fitting to the music.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

(Vince) We are based in South East of England and to be honest there is not much of a scene here, Especially for our genre. The area is flooded with cover and tribute bands so we tend to play in other areas including overseas. Sometimes we get offered to play in the area but very rarely is it with bands that would normally fit with us and the gigs have such mixed and confusing bills.

4. How would you describe your style?

(Vince) I would say our style is Classic Metal riff based melodic doom. Or for short, Epic Doom

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

(Vince) We have 2 albums and a single released. Our debut album “Valley of the King” is a pure concept album telling a complete story from beginning to end.  It’s a quest of legends with castles, demons, haunted forests, swords, battles and much more. The single was limited edition named “Into the realms”. This was just a tease of what is to come on our 2ndalbum. Our 2nd album “Of Gods and Heroes” again is a concept album although rather than one story but many short stories based on Greek Mythology including Charon, Medusa, Pegasus and there is even a mention of Jason and the golden fleece.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

(Vince) Yes we do. The plan is to introduce a new track to our rehearsal schedule over a period of time until we are happy to take the step and actually record another album. We have 3 new tracks that will be played live on our forthcoming shows. I feel it is always good to test them live too.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

(Vince) We did some gigs in Scandinavia and mainland Europe recently and we are getting prepared for a show in London in August and HRH Doom vs Stoner festival in Sheffield. We hope that we can get more shows confirmed for 2019.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

(Vince) That’s hard to say as we never know what’s around the corner. We just go with the flow and make the most of what we do as it’s in our hearts. As long as we stay true to the music and play what we like then anything else is a bonus.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

(Vince) our main website links to all outlets www.desolatepathway.co.uk or alternatively we can be found on Big Cartel, Band camp, Spotify, YouTube and all the usual social media platforms.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
