CONTORTION INTERVIEW

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Founded by Stone in 2012, Contortion has incrementally added members over the years to create a solid and soul crushing act. Each member brings their own element to the music and stage performance, while complimenting the band as a unit. Like a well oiled machine, Contortion brings the pulse pounding and adrenaline spiking sound to its listeners with a message that cannot be denied.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Contortion forst describes the sound: a band that does not conform or fit into a specific mold or style of metal. Second, it is a mind set. Like that of suspension artists and contortionists, the meditative state that it's members squire while performing is akin to Buddhists reaching toward nirvana.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are
there any local bands you could recommend?

We are from San Bernardino, and the scene is alive, but dispersed. Spread out amongst too many bands, and too few worthy venues, it is difficult to get a great combination of both rad bands in a killer venue. We are also revered and loved by our neighbors in San Diego, As Stone and Steve hail from there.
Some bands we perform with and love would be : Sangre, A Hero Within (SD), Aghori (SD), Black Oil, Decieve the Dead, 1001(SD), Uncle Sam's Murder Plan, just to name a few.

4. How would you describe your style?

Diverse. A little of this and a little of that. Metal core overall, with hints of thrash, djent, hardcore, and groove.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your
works?

Our latest release on Rock Avenue Recs is entitled "Falseflag Paradigm ". It is unapologetic pure metal. Swinging from that steady groove to up beat thrash, and finishing off with a djent punch to the dome. More to come as we are working on new material.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, and with the latest lineup, people should expect fresh new sounds and ideas to produce another unique album. We like to avoid falling into a pattern or particular niche.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We are awaiting responses on some US and Europian tours for the Fall of 2018. We will keep you posted.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

An open ended question for sure....
Contortion's message is one of knowledge and application of said knowledge. With the current political climate being as alive as it is, we are aiming to shift people's Focus to the issues that truly need the most attention. And the beginning of this is the eradication of the left vs right dichotomy. If we can help Americans and All Nations come to view their governments and corporations as corrupt and out of control, then maybe we can all Reign them in and usher in a new paradigm.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

All links can be found at Contortionmetal.com
Cds, shirts, etc. Or meet us at a show for exclusive gear!!!!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your
music for the first time?

Take heed that you're hearing the sound of your own personal revolution. One that can spread to the world, if given the opportunity.
